Damn. Really thought the promotion and improved terms might work in our favour.

That's football. Good luck Joe.

Money comes first before club, but no player is bigger than our club, move on and forget him, no time for some players

Good luck to him. An improving player and obviously nice human being. Will be watching his career with interest.

Personally, I never thought he'd go. All the best for the future, Joe. It's been great to have you with us.

Why did we not extend his contract and prevented  this inevitable lose of yet another player who could have commanded a fee . Short sighted as usual .

He ended up showing the potential that he always had but managed to iron out his inconsistency and lack of concentration at times.
Good luck to him but other clubs might not have been as patient as we were. I’m sure that we made a fair offer so we now have that wage to spend on someone else. Until his late surge last season I’m not certain that the club would have kept him. What a difference a year makes.

A player with a decent value leaves for free after we developed him. Not ideal business.

We need to reflect on it and move on. It happens to some of the supposedly best run clubs, as it has with Liverpool and TAA.

It happens all over. Can he do it somewhere else without GM, he was struggling pre. We will find others

The power is not with the clubs anymore, it’s heavily in favour of the players now. Fees for players are also quite rare at any level, players prefer the chance to earn more as the new clubs don’t have to pay the transfer fee. I’m sure we’re all aware of this.

Works both ways.  Maybe he/his agent didn’t want to extend or re-sign.

Why does it always have to be the clubs fault if a player doesn’t sign.?

Not much more than a year ago many folks would have been happy to let him go, so at what point should he have been signed on.?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

A tad of fresh blood in the team won’t hurt ! Olowu was the player I was most impressed with last season, but in Grant we trust !Maybe a chance for young Faulkner to take his chance !

Would you have given him an improved deal at the end of the play offs ??

Wishing him all the best for the future.

That’s six players out from last season, McCann will have to be even more astute in the market to keep any continuity of style of play , it took him two seasons to get back and it’s a competitive league .

Shame that as he’s an immense presence for us and so fit and strong. I just hope he gets a round of applause if he ends up visiting us with an opponent.

Quite right. Having extended his contract already in 2023, why would you go back to renegotiate his contract 12 months into his two years, when anything can happen to a player. As said, it works both ways and even if you wanted to open talkd, his agent could easily advise not to in preference to keeping his options open.

Three of our other more valuable players in recent times, Marquis, Whiteman and Molyneux were all subject to the same process and all signed the dotted line for more.

We have to accept that players have different ambitions, motivation and priorities and the club can't always meet them.

Shame obviously a good lad and the last couple of seasons he’s turned around a fairly poor start into been a top player for us.

Big positive for me was Baileys performances at centre back and the midfields improvement after he moved means Joe might not be so hard to replace.

The big money, to the extent that we have any, needs to be focused on a centre forward and in midfield imo.

Goes with my best wishes. Always gave his best when out on the pitch and came across like a good guy off it. Loved his interaction with the crowd. Can’t begrudge him if it is a money move or one down south closer to home. Wish him the best of luck and will be interesting to see how far he can go. He has the raw attributes to play at a higher level for sure

Ldr, Bobby wants to stay and play at Doncaster, and is prepared to play for the shirt knowing he will have to work hard and play for it, and  and is confident in his ability to do so.
He is a Rovers fan, it has always been his team as a supporter and he has had injury, and a bad loan player wise through no fault of his own in Ireland that he has had to get over and have made him a stronger character, and has learnt him life skills that he admits have been good for him, teaching and giving him the confidence to look after himself.
If he hits the straps here like he has done at Buxton, and he is capable of doing that in my mind, He will be gone for big bucks to the club in the not too distant future.

I've only seen him in Rovers colours Selby but personally really rated him. Won every header, every tackle, threat in opposition box. Reported to have come back into preseason as the fittest player. Unsure as to why he hasn't had a chance already other than GM having an eye to the future and wanting him to get more game time??? If that was the case promotion to L1 may make game time even harder to come by?

Got to walk before you can run Shelby. No point saying about a big bucks move because he has done okay at Buxton. Needs to try and get himself into our side first. Last I saw of him you could tell he hadn’t been schooled through an academy. Was great at the old school crunch tackle but was poor at a lot of the basics at a professional level

Ultimately he's a player a lot of us didn't want around much longer not that long ago. He and the coaching staff deserve huge credit for his improvement and that's got him some attention.

He's a top man clearly a nice guy. Nobody to criticise neither he nor the club. Wish him well and move on. He's conducted himself brilliantly here i will never knock that.

Who’s to say we wouldn’t have won anyway but what is a fact is after he got injured we went on an 11 game unbeaten run that sent us up as champions. We managed without him being even in the squad for what was our best run of the season.

No need to panic. We have played our best football of the season while he has been out "injured"? None of us wanted him to go but it is Joe's career and if he thinks he can make more money elsewhere that's his prerogative.

King Kendrick he was 17/18 then, and was only signed after a youth cup game v Rotherham after the game because Middlesbrough were going to knowing he was playing as an amateur if we didn't.
He Played a season with the academy while getting time off from Doncaster Tech to train and had to go back to college after training to do course work, the only player in the academy not getting paid on a scholarship.
The first time Wellens saw him play in that youth cup game he signed him when a Manchester United youth scout made enquiries about him during the game.to Tony Cook the  then head of the academy.
