The Pitch

Let's hope that it has time to recover. What  with the  rugby-league, boxing and the a music festival.

After the state at the end of the season, it needs  it.

Won’t it be relayed?

It gets a full renovation a week after next. The Dons don't have a home game for 5 weeks after they play Bradford Bulls next Sunday.

I didn't think the pitch looked too bad after a full season on it at the end, but good to hear more work is going to be done, there seems to be less problems now with hamstrings than when Rovers first moved into the stadium.

The pitch started to deteriorate after Christmas, thus not after a full season, the rugby games had not started.
Numerous away managers were commenting on its condition, but seemed to be kept low key by us although Grant did mention on a couple of occasions.
I raised the condition in another thread at the time, but there was no comments from anyone close to the club about the cause of its deterioration

Yes, it seemed to go quite bobbly and crusty after Christmas time but recovered towards the end of the season. Would guess a combination of different weather conditions contributed but, we've had alot worse. Plenty of other lower division clubs pitches looked similar.

Most clubs seem to refurbish their pitches every season now, no matter what. It's amazing just how quickly the new seed grows after each refurbishment.

1 advantage of smaller open terrace grounds. You get much more sunlight hours on the pitch.

Wonder if that impacted our tactics. We definitely seemed to be passing it around the back much less after Christmas.

I think a lot of that was down to the need to get the ball up to Rob Street quickly, with his ability to get behind defenders.
