Tomorrow?

I’d expect a bit of movement tomorrow, if so?

You'd think so, seeing as there's only 2 days before pre-season training.

It looks like just the other CB to come in, although GM did mention the possibility of another wide player.

I'm really looking forward to Wednesday, the players reporting back for preseason and something real for us to talk about

I would be very surprised if GM would go on holiday without having everything in place, he isn't like that.  I would expect that announcements will happen this week, but the players are already ours. Going public is not necessarily on the same day as signing.

You give the impression that signing players is easy, there’s no competition from other clubs and we can just hand pick who we want.

Well said, we can’t force players to sign for us because we want them, 95 % of the time they will have more than one option. Things like relocating, schooling, family commitments, contract length etc all have to be taken into account

Not at all do I suggest that, it beats me how you can even suggest that from what I said. I do trust GM though, unlike you it seems. Do you expect a manager not having done his recruitment to be disappearing off and ignoring what is happening? I don't. GM will have got the negotiations done before he left, the fact we are not hearing about it is because he is professional, and has earned his time off, do you think he should be in his office and never have a break?

Cotty, you should have been excited today, some players were in voluntarily for tests at Cantley.

Was it Dumbarton last week who have just come out of administration and played a full team of trialists and  subs that would have been fun

As already mentioned by another poster on another thread, I believe a player was at the stadium yesterday for photos and interviews. Would suspect its the central defender GM had mentioned.

Think they might be split up into groups that are easy to accommodate and handle for the tests as not all were there yesterday, and also did some very light training.
Makes sense to me as the physio's must have a lot on their plate conducting the tests and recording the results, and at the moment we have a big squad.

Personally looking forward to pre season which although no big name sides (who play reserves mainly anyway) looks interesting to me in quite a few ways.
Some of them could possibly be used to showcase players,  especially youngsters we need out at a decent club who play at a good level, the Gateshead game a possible.
The Alfreton game will be against a side that will bomb us from every angle with long balls and throw ins to a set of giants, and they are good at it as well, a throw back to the old Cambridge fixture, if you can't handle it they will bury you, and not the best pitch in the world.
And the Blackpool game obviously the best pointer to how the team make up could well be for the first few games.
Also the Stamford Peterborough sports games again chances of loans out at good levels for younger players who do well in the games, and the novelty of two games in a day at decent non league sides and Rossington for local interest.
A bit of interest and hopefully decent dry weather especially for the Rossington game to make them a bit of dosh.
And of course us following every move and player and hoping we can have another good season, which could be just surviving which has to be our first priority and anything else a bonus.

Not uncommon in Scotland these days. Clyde have been doing it for several years now. Lots of short term contracts and rebuilding a team from trialists every close season.  Brechin and Arbroath have done it. I think Stranraer are going through the same.

If it is Ajayi, he looks a really good player. I've just seen a goal he scored for Spurs in the Europa league against Elfsborg, where he scored from the edge of the area.

We shall see.

In each transfer window we take what I assume to be a fairly low risk punt on a young and largely untested wide player in the loan market. Tyler Roberts, Ephraim Yeboah and Ethan Ennnis all struggled to make much of an impact and didn’t look ready. The law of averages would say we ought to be due a comparative success in that area, and hopefully this young player from Tottenham can prove to be that. It’s not one that I can get excited about personally, though. We’ve already got four of our own players vying for that position and unless this player is significantly better than them (and I think we all have reasonably high hopes that Molyneux, Gibson and Middleton are established players that can make an impact) then it only messes with the balance when it comes to the development of Hurst, who is our asset and should be our priority.

Obviously I’ll retract all of that if Damola Ajayi looks like the next Messi and elevates us to promotion candidates.

I'd agree with that Jonathon.  He's also a young London boy, so may be a risk.  Lets' see how hungry he is and if he settles, but I have some doubts...
