Hello,

I know I posted a version of this song a while ago, however since that post the song has had a revamp and the club have been playing before kick off and have agreed to continue to play it into next season.

The reason I’m posting today is the song is being released as a single with all profits being donated to Doncaster foodbank.

The song is available to preorder from today before being able to stream from 8th August.

The link to pre-order is below and any support in preordering will help raise money for those in need.

http://itunes.apple.com/album/id1814167964?ls=1&app=itunes

Thanks

Good song, well sung. I'd be interested to compare it to the old version but you've removed it from that Soundcloud link. I'm always interested to hear how a song develops.

I’m sorry I keep posting about it, but my new single “This is my city” is out now!!

The links to stream the song is below:

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/1iOD27ym1NV7CPr88cynVh

Apple Music: http://itunes.apple.com/album/id/1814167964

All other streaming platforms: https://social.tunecore.com/linkShare?linkid=bhrqg6J3Nm4EFhxxQc3iBA

“This Is My City” isn’t just about Doncaster; it’s a universal message about the places that shape us, the experiences that define us, and the pride that we carry forward, and how something as simple as one’s love for a football team can form a bond that stretches community wide and because of this all profits from the song are being donated to Doncaster Foodbank

This is more than just a song, it’s a rally cry for community spirit.

If everyone in this chat is able to stream the song once or twice (or even have it on repeat for an hour) it will help raise money to help support those in need.

This is pride! This is passion!
This is my city!

Please post the lyrics for us ! As an octogenarian and exiled Doncastrian I especially appreciate your highlighting the values of Community and the attachment  to our club .

Lyrics as requested:

I'm from Doncaster
This is my city.....my club.....my one true love,
This is my home,
On the terrace of red,
I never feel alone
Im from Doncaster.
I walk done Bawtry road,
To where they built a new housing estate,
Built upon a theatre, a theatre of dreams.
My old man used to work the turnstiles,
And he let me jump the gate,
Standing in the corner of the main stand,
Getting drenched if it ever chucked it down.
I remember luke warm bovril,
Microwave pukka pies,
They say it never leaves you,
It never leaves your side.
See when it was a town,
There wasn't much going on,
Just people asking for money,
Only things going were or the races or the footy.
It used to be the same things,
Every Saturday at 3,
Watching us week after week,
Defeat after defeat.
I could have hung around,
Having fun in the frenchgate,
With a mate or two,
Instead I spent my time at my home called Belle Vue
At my home called Belle Vue
I'm from Doncaster
This is my city.....my club.....my one true love,
This is my home,
On the terrace of red,
I never feel alone
Im from Doncaster.
I remember them ripping down the pop stand,
When we moved down the road.
Never thought I'd see my church made in to homes.
I knew things would change for worse or better,
"Why you getting upset?,
Its just blokes kicking a ball of leather"
But what do they know,
They don't know how it feels.
Three nil up against the villa,
And it feels like a dream.
As you drive into the city
The minister fills the skyline,
Flag flapping
The sound of cop cars,
Blue lights flashing
Feels like the disco
On the bridge going out of town.
This is my city
This is my club
I'm from Doncaster
I'm from Doncaster
This is my city.....my club.....my one true love,
This is my home,
On the terrace of red,
I never feel alone
Im from Doncaster.
I'm from Doncaster
I never feel alone,
I never feel alone.
This is my home,
On the terrace of red,
I never feel alone.

The embedded refrain should become a Rovers mini anthem ! Deserves it and is so original and authentically Donny  !

Though it’s a sentimental song I don’t here much in the songs lyrics relating to the Rovers . The background of the song should have had the supporters chanting “The Rovers” where appropriate! Not bad otherwise

Choked up listening to that.  Maybe i romanticise as an exile!

It pretty much is my story of starting to watch Rovers (except no Dad on the turnstile).

I’m glad you connected with it with the way I really hoped people would.

Don’t think it’s being an exile that’s done it, it’s still having Doncaster in you that’s done it lol
