   If the referee clamps down on Spain's use of the professional foul England's movement up front can get at them.

We’ve only been in the hotel since Tuesday Steve but there seems to be quite a mix of nationalities.
Certainly some Brits but also Dutch and German as you might expect.

But there are lots of Spaniards too so it could make for a lively atmosphere!

Getting so bored of football commentary. We now seem to have a Commentator and 2 other pundits (jobs for the boys and girls) uttering the bleeding obvious and loving the sound of their own voice.
Just one commentator please. We can actually see what’s going on and don’t need 3 voices booming out what we know already.

I have not been a regular watcher of women’s football but from what I have seen at this tournament I don’t agree that there is a huge difference in technical quality - certainly not as big as some on this thread have claimed.

If you look at some of the goals scored, on average I can’t remember seeing better quality goals scored in the national league, or even league 2 for that matter.

The old argument “well they’d get beat by a men’s team” is irrelevant, there is obviously a physical advantage that women cannot overcome through no fault of their own. It’s like saying women’s boxing is shit because they wouldn’t beat a male boxer.

Got to agree with that. Vicky sodding Sparks just sounds like an Alan Partridge impersonator. Otherwise all for it. Women can’t run the hundred metres as quickly as the men but it doesn’t demean the event or the achievement.

Whatever the team selection, we're going to have our work cut out. Lauren James fortunate to be selected, particularly with injury concerns but she needs to step up to the plate.
