Absolutely gutted to hear this the Exeter fans were a credit to their club, hopefully these scumbags are formally identified and banned - we don’t want (or need) them sullying our club
To the Exeter fans involved I’m sorry you encountered this and wish you a speedy recovery
Exeter have there own idiots two were nearly scrapping at the beefeater yesterday when I was having a drink with my dad , all clubs have idiots it's how you stop it what's hard to do ,people video it ,complain about it but never rarely step in to stop it, going away last season I saw very little of it

Didn’t see them had some good banter with their fans at Beefeater

I think you’ve been on the £2 Stella for too long.

Let the adults have the discussions tomorrow when everyone is back at work.
Very helpful, fyi  I’ve just finished 2hours of tennis in 30 degrees so your way off the mark.
But yes, put off another day let someone else deal with it. Poor of you!.
Don’t do Stella here and it’s 3.80€ actually for a beer , just to keep you up to date and pull you out of the 80’s.

You say someone else to deal with it.

Who is this someone?

I’m sure the club are aware as they keep an eye on the forum and I’m also sure that they will be looking into it with the relevant authorities.

Just let them deal with without calling them out.

I hope they do look at the forum, and therefore every comment on this particular thread is really important to get the message across that enough is enough. The more displeasure supporters write about this the better.
So your inaccurate and insulting comment of “you’ve been on the £2 Stella” is very unhelpful on this thread.
Seeing that this appears to have been going on sometime to a point that supporters have stopped going to games, and in turn the trouble causers seem to be known by many, then perhaps the club and police still have a lot to do.  I look forward to some banning orders.

Football hooliganism always has and always will unfortunately be part of the game. It is one of numerous reasons I have fallen out with the game a bit.

I will always support the Reds but the older I have got the more I think some peoples obsession with the need to provoke other teams fans, abuse players from both teams and just be an all round thug, I just cant deal with anymore and this will never change whatever the club tries to do.

Give me a cricket or rugby crowd any day of the week.

I tolerate it because I love going to Rovers home and away. Watching grown men goading each other just because they happen to support another team is often distasteful, sometimes just funny.

Im not advocating for football to become sanitised. The passion of supporters is a crucial part of why we all love the sport but too often it just goes too far. I like rivalry, I don’t like displays of hatred.

I will never go to an away game again due to both the number of scrotes that follow our club and the violence which maybe not as bad as it was in the 80's, but has never gone away and quite frankly I can't comprehend.

Simply not a safe environment to take my little boy.
Well said. Like you I've stopped going to away matches as its an embarrassment. I also note that you're message didn't include foul language that some use OK with the odd letter missing. Possibly a case of hypocrisy ?

Here we go again, right on cue. You just can't help yourself.

A couple of young kids have been hospitalised after having their heads kicked in, and the only thing you can bang on about is some bad language on this forum.

This is the 3rd time in recent years that you've come on here and completely played down acts of absolute evil, choosing instead to criticise the language used to describe those acts.

Just unbelievable.

I’m more than happy to speak to those in a position to do something about this, but I can assure you they will already know about it.

Up until I retired I was Chair of the SYP Independent Advisory Group that represented the supporters of the SY clubs. I still have all  the contact numbers etc,

If Lincs needs me give me a shout but I’m sure the club and the SYP football unit will be already on it.

Fair enough I’d left before then - no place for that or the incident after the game

Is it not possible to use a ( club)  app on which to alert stewards to anti-social behaviour in real time when it breaks out in the stadium ?

Yes. How to report these things are on the website AND within the info sent out in the prematch guide before every home game.

I totally agree with this.  Neighbour of mine is a STH at Forest and occasionally offers me a spare ticket if his lad can't go... He sits in the first tier corner above the away support and it never ceases to amaze me how much time and effort the Forest supporters and away fans spend looking, goading and gesturing each other during the game.... to the point that they miss the action/goals etc...
Just seems an awful waste of money to travel to a game, hand over a large wad for tickets/food/travel etc and then spend 90 minutes flicking the V's up at opposition fans...

I read the OP in shame. I was going to write a " please don't go back to the BAD old days"

Then I realized I had already written it.

The upcoming home game with Rotherham is very likely to bring the idiots out in force from both sets of fans.

This is available on match days and for any issues within the stadium. It doesn’t cover any incidents outside the stadium, which this obviously was. I rang the club first thing this morning but the security team weren’t around until later. I am awaiting a response, impatiently, and have also sent a strongly worded email on the ‘contact us’ button on the DROS. I can’t find any other ways to contact them so will await a response either by phone (as promised) or via email. I’ll keep you updated as, if I don’t receive a response today, I will contact you SM to ask for more direct comms with people who will respond. Cheers

I think you're doing over and above to deal with this incident outside the stadium complex, which is very commendable. I'm sure SM will make sure the club do whatevers reasonable to take on board the evidence to identify the culprits.

An update, and good news, the head of security has contacted me and I’m pleased to say the club are taking this very seriously. The people involved will be banned and dealt with by the club appropriately and quickly.

The disappointment is that South Yorkshire police haven’t been in touch with the club about this and we were only aware due to this forum (they do look at it) and the contact I made with the club this morning. They have contacted SYP to liaise & share all the info with them (I was able to provide some details but SYP have more names/video/witnesses/details of victims & their injuries etc) so I hope SYP do their job and deal with it appropriately, quickly and harshly.

Unfortunately DRFC can only give out banning orders etc.. but the police can obviously go further. I hope they get what they deserve.

Having spoken to people within the club I’m very much encouraged that we will do the right thing concerning both the perpetrators and the victims - we will be contacting Exeter city to ask about the victims and apologise on the clubs behalf. I would love it if this made a difference but I’m pessimistic in that every club has its scumbags, and we have our share. The only way to try to change things is by letting the club, police or even this forum know whenever you see something like I had the misfortune to be a part of on Saturday. Let’s kick the b*st*rds out of our club!!  :boxing: :boxing: :byebye:  :byebye:

Thank you LincsRover.
I have been talking to the club since yesterday evening. Nothing more I can add on your summary…thanks again.
By way of showing that the club does liaise, follows things through & involves other agencies…
Last September there was a report of racial abuse at a home game. The offender couldn’t be identified immediately. The club followed this through to a positive conclusion at the next home game. They were picked out by CCTV & all the information was passed onto SYP.
I’m advised that the offender received a THREE YEAR BANNING ORDER by the courts last week.
It proves  that by passing on this information, that results can be achieved. Well done to all involved.

I understand the trouble in the south stand was due to someone leaving their seat and others then went and sat in them.
This is happening all the time in the south stand, basically we has a family cannot go down to the concourse together, thus I have spoken to Gavin about this on a couple of occasions. (Loss of revenue at half time and also before game because we go to the seats about 45-60mins before kick off)
The only way to resolve is to go back to reserved seating as per the other stands!

I know many will immediately come on here saying no way, saying south stand will lose atmosphere, but does reserved seating in the Anfield kop or Old Traffords  Stretford end have no atmosphere?

The entire Stretford end and Kop stand up. That's why.

Don't fix something that's not broken. South stand is way better since the move to unreserved

Regarding the apology to the injured Exeter supporters.
I’ve not seen any of the incident footage.
Were they innocent lads in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Or were they in a pre arranged spot waiting for a bit of fisticuffs?
If they were up for it then they are not victims.
I’ve previously mentioned that the lad that I had seen near car park 3 had reacted to a phone message and was clearly up for the scrap.

No, very much unprovoked on 2 young lads who were chased to the car park before the attack. They didn’t even fight back, and were trying to talk their way out of it saying they don’t want any trouble. They were walking away from trouble but they were pursued. I didn’t even realise they were Exeter fans as they were both smartly dressed and not in any teams colours. Wrong time, wrong place, just walking back to the train station with a couple of young girls from Exeter they met on the train up to Donny.

We were on the opposite side of the road from the idiot who was ranting in car park 3, he ran in there through the first gap to the car park - I didn’t hear what he was shouting, but a short time earlier, he was the one with his hands all over the sole policeman at the entrance to car park 2, and was the ringleader of the main attack. He’s either on some form of chemicals or psychotic, of both! A complete head case who ran away like a schoolgirl when we chased them away.

I still can’t get why we call this hooliganism when outside of football, it’s assault, abh or gbh with proper custodial sentences. Sticking it into hooliganism seems to be something that’s tolerated and to accept its normal behaviour. It isn’t and should carry the same weight. In fact given ghst it’s pre meditated it should have a much sterner form of punishment. Nothing will change unless these sub humans realise there are sever consequences to their actions.
