Harrogate v Lincoln
« on August 13, 2025, 01:00:15 am by Ryaldinhio »
Just watched highlights

Street basically 2 assists and 1 goal for Lincoln.

Commentator named Faulkenr as MOM for Harrogate, don't know truth in that.

Street above that level, hopefully Bobby keeps showing that he is too.

On a side note the lighting was awful to the point it's questionable should the game be played. Assuming there is lower standards in the cup.comps for lower league teams but if that's the case ether should be Saturday 3pm? That was shocking.

I watched both games on the tv Harrogate and The Rovers on the computer.
Bobby was named MOTM and rightly so, as he was outstanding in a team that were distinctly second best.
Lincoln looked a decent side but very much depended on set pieces and the play of Street who they play wider than he did here, but was involved in most of the good attacking play they had.
To me he looks destined to move on eventually if he carries on improving at the rate he did with us last season and would not be surprised if someone didn't come in for him for decent money.
As regards Bobby during the commentary of the match he was described as Brilliant and superb and put on a great show of defensive play, the difference in Harrogate getting a bit of a hiding.
Simon Weaver used the same words to describe Bobby's performance in his after the game summary if anyone is interested to watch it, whether he starts Saturday though is questionable as he was the best performer in preseason games and has only been on the bench.
As for the Rovers game I couldn't be more impressed, a fantastic team effort with the MOTM award very hard to allocate, brilliant couldn't be more pleased.

The only mention of him on BBC report was a misplaced header leading to 2nd goal
,  I know they are limited on words but doesn't seem fair on the motm

The ball was cut back from the bye line as Bobby rightly went to cover the goal scorer and was off balance with the ball played behind him so dived at the ball to head behind while going the other way,
All he could do and didnt get a great touch on the ball setting up a tap in.
Not many would have had the dexterity to attempt to head the ball the position his body was in and  in the complete wrong direction of travel with the ball behind him.
He just tried to get something on the ball while turning, and in doing so set the ball up for an easy finish.

Yes, I saw his half volley header but he didn't have much choice other than to try and get something on it.

Kyle Hurst also playing for Gateshead and is doing well looking a threat on the ball  and running at and past the defender.

Gateshead lost 4-3 after leading 3-1in the last quarter, both Flint and Hurst  did ok, but the team as a whole were second best when Newcastle looked the fitter side in the last twenty minutes and upped their tempo.

If Hurst carries on playing like that and builds his confidence clubs will not be long before they take notice, he was Gateshead's most productive attacker all the game.
Flint did ok nothing wrong but is much more capable of effecting the game playing that defensive mid field position he flourishes in, and his football brain and ability to play the easy quick ball because of his positional sense,  and awareness of where other team mates are on the field shines through and allows them to turn defence into attack.

Hurst has a point to prove against big nasty men, not u21 teams.
