Phil Stant seemed to play us twice a season at Belle Vue, always got a transfer mid season and rock up at Doncaster the following Saturday. I know it’s poetic licence , but that’s how it seemed.

Another that always seemed to score against us and then signed for us was Les Chappell. I seem to remember he did an OK job for us but scored nothing like the number of goals he did for Reading (just checked wiki 78 league goals from 201 apps for Reading and only 10 from 58 apps for us)

We could have signed Senior for £100k back in the day but the money wasn’t there.

I actually liked what I saw of Les Chappell (which wasn't that much - I was living abroad at the time so didn't see too many matches). He went to Swansea afterwards where I have close family - he was well liked and still fondly remembered there, mostly for his post playing coaching years and twice being caretaker manager.

Seem to remember him scoring against us for Scarborough and Halifax. Played for Orient as well when we won down there on our return to the FL but didn’t score that day.
