I haven’t either but I was told that the EFL clubs benefit from a lot of money that the PL clubs pay so that their U21s are allowed to take part so I can understand why it is happening.

I’m fine with the boycott but I don’t mind the U21 teams being in it. I enjoy watching them. Remember Oscar Bob and Liam Delap playing for City against us. Serious players and it was interesting (to me!) seeing them live at a young age.

Some shocking attendances, a few under 1,000, the standout being Wycombe Wanderers at just 569.
On the plus side a very decent 8,500 ish at Cardiff City v Newport County.

Horrible atmosphere in these games but they are usually quite entertaining I enjoy them, that said I can understand others boycotting them.

The EPL contribute a £1m as prize money to the competition as compensation for allowing up to 16 EPL clubs to include their U21 academy teams to enter.

Total prize money was about £2m initially but sits at about £3m these days.

But for the serious fans organisations we still see this as a step too far, therefore if fans groups are still boycotting the competition then we’re ok with that. A £1m is not enough to allow the EPL to start entering their academy teams into EFL run competitions.
