What a touch and finish that was. Was a lovely minute on level terms anyway.

I love it when this happens,  i feel so embarrased for the people that instantly slag off players.

Well done Hanlan keep going, it puts an extra special smile on my face. The Broadbents that got stick amd the total embarrasment of the stick Molly got this year. You never know what is happening.  Its dead easy support the players no matter what.

Great finish Hanlan :) :) :) :)

I’d love him to play alongside Billy to see  if it works . Some of Billys touches today were class but needs someone up front alongside him.

Did well today. Hope he doesn't get binned off for 2 months if he has a bad 45 next week.

Our game plan is crying out for some speed, strength and athleticism up top. Hanlan is the player in the squad who fits this profile the best, we need to give him an extended run out from the off and see where the match fitness takes him.

BS is a different type and the system is not suiting his game at all. Better to have him come off the bench as an extra option running against tired defenders until we can get some additional bodies into the fold come Jan.

Hanlan has potential, GM needs to extract more out of him.

I can only think that GM doesnt believe Hanlan has got 90min in him. Still working on his fitness perhaps?

He played well. Coming on as a second half substitute is different to starting when teams are set up in their specific shape and style.

Many players find having the same impact difficult when it’s tight with less space etc.

The time and space he had to take the touch, turn and score are rare. We would have been critical of our defending rather than praising their forward if the opposition scored that goal.

I personally thought their first goal was a great cross and a superb header but some have criticised our central defenders for that.

We need the power and energy Hanlan showed every game. Fingers crossed he’s now ready to be the player I assume Grant wanted.

All goals are preventable.
It is dead easy to say what should have happened or that a defender shouldn’t have made a particular decision.
With the benefit of hindsight we might have more 0-0 draws.
Maybe if Gotts had moved a few inches to his left the ball wouldn’t have unluckily bounced off him into our net.

Maybe if Grant had left Clifton on and not brought on Gotts they wouldn’t have scored. I’m not a fan yes he works but he’s not a good league1 player.

The more I watch our goal yesterday, the better it looks. That was top quality striker play by Hanlan. Reminiscent of Heffernan's ability to exploit a yard of space with a good first touch and a precise finish. And of course, as with so many of our goals, the initial touch, movement and delivery from Molyneux was excellent.

Clifton has done well I think since coming back and I've been one to moan about him previously.

Reminded me a bit of Heffernan's goal v Villa. Very very good.

Seen the replay now as only saw from the away end which was the opposite end and it's a really good goal. The pass is fired into him which I didn't realise.

Two goals in two games from straight balls into him. Quite an unusual way to score even though it doesn’t really look it.

Think he needs to start on Saturday and bring Billy on later.

Hanlan looks like he can fit in this system better now.

We are top for crosses in to the box in the league. A January alternative to him could be someone who can get their head on things to make use of that?

Interesting how quickly peoples opinions can change. Swell of support for Brandon to start more questions being asked of Billy. I got a pretty meaty response from one of our regular posters for suggesting this weeks ago. Again, i'm not saying BH is Ronaldo but the way he's been deployed by the manager and disrespected by the fans thus far has been poor.

**UPDATE**

All comps...

Sharp- 4 goals in 1328 mins- A goal every 332mins
Hanlan- 3 goals on 570 mins- A goal every 190mins

‘One swallow doesn’t make a summer’ however, I think we ought to play him from the start in the next two fixtures & see how he performs.

It’ll help his match fitness if nothing else.

We can always bring Billy on for the last 20-30 minutes depending on Brandon’s showing.

I hope he grasps his chance (if Grant is likeminded thinking in starting him from the off) & scores goals that get us points.

It’ll give ‘our bored stat poster’ something to do if nothing else.

There’s hasn’t been much of an explanation as to why Hanlan hasn’t been more active in the starting lineup !!

The 'excellent form of Billy Sharp' was GMs last comment...
