Looks to me that sharp was knocked off balance and the defender swipes his leg from behind,

Dont think the defender touches the ball but steps over it and scissors billys right leg

He gets the ball doesn’t? Admittedly from a horrible angle.

"He gets the ball". Yes quite correct he does but AFTER shoving Sharp in the back. Clear and blatant penalty.

He has hands on him. Billy goes down easier than anyone I’ve ever seen. We see that every week. There was contact, Billy was unbalanced but the defender got a big peace of the ball. Wasn’t a 100% stone walker to me. If he gave it I could see why. He didn’t give it and I can see why. These things are generally not completely black and white IMO.

That’s total rubbish, he was pushed and then scissored from behind, the defender did not get the ball.

Surprised at such a comment from someone as obviously knowledgeable as you, Gaz. Anyone can foul someone & get the ball.

The reason he didn’t give the penalty was because the defender touched the ball and Sharp did the straight leg fall forward like people do when they dive.

I’m just too knowledgable for a referee like on to be honest. Everyone gets shit decisions. It’s no excuse of 2 points in 8 games. Ends up being a smoke screen for broader issues.

Of course we've got broader issues, we're not scoring enough obviously. Doesn't change the fact that we should have had a pen, which is what this thread is about.

Definite penalty, the thing is if we had got it and it was put away it would have been a fair result a draw.

Goals change games don’t they.
If we had been awarded and scored the pen there is no reason why we couldn’t have gone on to win the game.

We've signed some bad forwards...and the Goalkeeping has been questionable. Grant has done a phenomenal job at the Rovers. The players performance was very good today.

Unlucky not to get a result. Terrible referee changed our points on the board.

On the replay it looks worse! It should have been a pen and a card for the Barnsley player. It seems like every game we’re getting these poor decisions!

Absolutely not true. We’ve got 2 points in 8 games, there’s not too much to be positive about. We are the second lowest scorers in the league, largely because our No9 isn’t consistently good enough.

As I said elsewhere, we were good today and deserved to win. Without doubt Billy is the player in our team that goes down repeatedly too easily. Every game (generally on the half way line admittedly) he throws himself to the ground. How many free kicks does he appeal for, when he’s on the deck, that he doesn’t get??? Loads, and they are not all free kicks are they. It just happens and he’s done it all his career. I’m not even saying it’s a negative really, exaggerating contact is part of the game, as are professional fouls, shirt pulling, grappling at set pieces etc etc.

80% of the premiership, no sorry i include champions league players go down easier than billy.

Neymar, ronaldo, mbappe. Grealish.

Sorry gaz, i admire your insight when it comes to stats.

But your very quick to find a negative among things. You very rarely praise anything that rovers do.

It was a stonewall penalty. If mcgrath had done that to, id put my house that you would say it was awful defending and should of been a pen.

“Billy goes down easier than anyone I’ve ever seen”.

Was this your first football match?

Absolutely unbelievable comment.

Its a comment from someone who wants to beat anything rovers do with a stick.

It was a silly comment.

But your saying he goes down easier than anyone you have seen? That is laughable

It’s not been called the Premiership for 18 years. How much of it do you watch?

We are talking about ex Premier League player Billy Sharp by the way.

Replay.

Looks to me that sharp was knocked off balance and the defender swipes his leg from behind,

Dont think the defender touches the ball but steps over it and scissors billys right leg

He gets the ball doesn’t? Admittedly from a horrible angle.

Yeah, come on Thorney, get your league labels right!
It hasn’t been called the ‘Premiership’ for 18 years!

If only you were as wise as GazLaz.
He knows everything.

He’s far worse than a WUM!

Fancy getting so frustrated because Pancho has him seething as he ties him up in linguistic knots time after time that he’s left with nothing else to come back with except veiled threats like “I wish you were sitting next to me on Tuesday night”, then as he’s put to the sword & ‘shredded’ yet again he dredges up all the intellect he can muster & retorts with a “See you Tuesday”.!!

Pathetic.

I doubt he’d know who Lewis Guy was Ldr if he tripped him up in a betting shop!

Think the “see you next Tuesday” must have gone over your head!

And if you think that anything in this thread has been threatening you have missed the spot as usual. Just willing to have a chat so you realise you (and your brother!) are making yourself look a complete clown and you have formed an opinion of me that couldn’t be further away from what I’m actually like.
