''Spanish dictator Francisco Franco died on 20 November 1975. The death of the “Caudillo” marked the end of his nearly 40-year fascist regime and Spain embarked on the path to democracy as a constitutional monarchy. Commentators examine how the country has changed since then and what remains of the Franco-era legacy today.''

It's changed a f**k of a lot. It's a modern country. It wasn't. It has good national footer sides. It didn't. It has good roads and railways. A fantasy. It has international respect. It didn't. It's a cracking place to visit. It wasn't.
And, the fascist pig isn't there. He was.

Remember my first visit ( looking de la Costa ) and the way the Civil Gaurd " ruled" the place
They were everywhere and well armed , some riding Mopeds with Machine Gun looking things
People running Bars and Discos etc tried to attract people with Fliers but they used to shrink out of site in a flash because ot was frowned upon ( possibly illegal ) to distribute what was regarded as "propaganda"
Seems hard to believe but glad to say it didnt last much longer

The first time I went to Spain was probably 71 with a few friends, Palma. We didn't discuss the political situation there, we didn't discuss politics in any depth at home either (I know I'm making up for that now)
At school we never got far enough forward to learn about modern politics, we always seemed to go back the the start each new year and talk about 'cave men'

He was an evil bast##÷d. King Juan Carlos who was groomed under
Franco to be the next dictator, 'accidentally 'shot his older brother( heir to the throne), he sat on the fence until public opinion told him it was time for democracy.
He's now living om Dubai and has more to hide than Andrew Windsor!
