Gary Rowett one of the bigger names out there now. Oxford apparently appointing John Terry which is likely to be a hilarious catastrophe. I get the sentiment about ‘who would we get’, but it’s also the fallacy of sunk costs to persist when it really isn’t working. Our Board should be reflecting very very seriously on how likely we are to get out of this mess, and taking the corrective action(s) required.
Wow and on a five year deal. Must be laughing all the way to the bank.

You mean like sorting the mess the club was in, and getting us promoted, after a few or more seasons of utter tripe.Jeez.
With the way Rotherham are going, Moore could end up going there.....
Yes, Grant has moved us in to a better position than we’ve been in for a while. The last 10 - 11 games of 23/24 were incredible, and winning promotion was a huge achievement and a great feeling last season. But, he’s had investment which his predecessors did not. I would also suggest the football, apart from those 10 incredible games, has been pretty average, and occasionally cluelessly dire. He also left us in the lurch previously when it suited him, leading to us on here calling him ‘the snake’. We’ve had high and low points with McCann. We don’t owe him anything. If we view this season completely dispassionately it’s been an abject failure so far. Bad business, bad football, poor results. Can he dig us out of the current mess? Not sure, maybe with a bit of luck in the loan market. Is he the man to make us a force to challenge in this league, using the owners investment wisely, creating an effective brand of football, flexible and pragmatic and successful? I personally don’t think so. He’s done what he set out to do. We’re out of the doldrums. It might be time to hand the baton over now.

Good post Reg, but I’d just like to add that whilst the discussion about GM is valid, I don’t think you can discuss him without being able to discuss the means with which he had to develop the squad further. We obviously have no idea what this season’s budget was and we never do, so it’s all about opinions. The thing it comes down to is this - why didn’t we go full throttle on Street, when he was clearly ‘the difference’ in making us Champions last season? Answer = money. Why havn’t we signed a good, solid keeper for the last few seasons. Answer = money. Neither of those two things are down to McCann and it’s probably fair to say that if we had invested, things just may have turned out very differently this season.Maybe the Club have realised that we can’t be ‘challenging’ at this level and above with the resources we have.
Vale sold their prize assets and didn't replace them. Inevitable really.
