Were our game due to be televised I wonder if we'd  have done what  Lincoln have to ensure the game went ahead as planned?
Very much doubt it.

We should be looking at Lincoln and what they are doing on and off the pitch and let that be the benchmark for where we need to get to.

I read that the EFL had covered the costs of those measures at Lincoln and Cheltenham due to the games being televised.

Lincoln are a very very well run club, think their ceo used to work for Rovers.
Be nice if he came back to sort us out.

I took chunks of ice off my ponds yesterday and threw them onto my lawn. They have not melted at all, all day yesterday. And the ice is back again on the ponds this morning. The pitch will still be frozen at 3pm.

Why? We're pretty well run overall in the last couple of years, that's a ridiculous statement.  On and off the pitch the last two years have been a huge step forward.

We've made a fair choice not to spend huge sums for the very rare occurrence of cold weather. I'm fine with that. We don't have that many games called off at all and when it's this cold I don't enjoy being out in it all that much either.

I popped outside yesterday afternoon and there was ice in the back garden, it seamt quite obvious to me a game today was less than likely.

Far better run than we are, I keep an eye on them because I admire how well they are run, as a club of similar size

It says the EFL stepped in as their usual frost covers wouldn't be good enough.

Even if covered, I guess it's the ground temp that determines the firmness of the pitch.

These days, they're not going to risk anything if the surface isn't normal, unlike the old days when they played on 'while over' pitches affected by frost and snow.

If there's no prospect of temps increasing during the day, as said earlier in the thread, it makes sense to make an early decision.

What makes you think that?
Have you checked their books and compared them to us?
Or do you just mean they spend more money than us rather than they’re better run than us

10am to 3pm would’ve seen 5 hours of temps above freezing. Seems a bit early to have the inspection to me

They are not a similar size. When their new stadium is complete, you'll see their attendances at least double.

WOW!. It didn't take long for this thread to descend into another playground squabble did it?

The game is off for obvious safety reasons. Simple.

The BBC weather says between 1 and 2 the temperature rises to 1 degrees only. That coupled with a 10mph wind, which is what is quoted, doesn't make it very playable. Especially given the overnight temperatures.

There are also fans of both sides who travel from further afield. So it's a sensible decision.

You need to be thankful we have the best CEO in the EFL.

Mind you, you probably couldn’t even name him without the aid of Google.

If it's frozen, in parts, now, it's not gonna thaw by 3pm. My lawn was solid all day yesterday. Frustrating, as I fancied us for 3 points, but correct to call it early.

Sky have paid for the tent at Lincoln for this match as it’s a 12.00 kick off not a 15.00, and it’s classed as a local derby
