Will Flint
« on January 03, 2026, 05:16:56 pm by selby »
Just watched him play for Gateshead in another 3-1 defeat  but play the full 90 minutes on a frozen pitch that got worse as the game went on.
For me he was one of the few controlled footballer on the field and their stand out defender being composed on the ball and with a good range of passing.
Hard to pick him out at times with only a home commentary but was one of the few Gateshead players they mentioned.
Hurst also played and worked defensively down his flank and had a couple of runs at the defence that petered out, suffered from very poor service to the wide players, Gateshead lacking in creative players in midfield.

Do we need a new thread everytime he or Faulkner plays Selby?

Same here.
It's quite obvious what it's about before you click on it, easy to scroll past if of no interest.

Agree with you Fal, it’s bordering on spam, no reason at all comments after every game can’t go on existing threads

I watched it as well. Flint was ok but nothing more. Hurst didn't really offer very much at all but Gateshead look like a well relegated team.

You don't have to read them, and I don't have to look for old threads just to please you.

Whilst i accept your point, theres no harm in having a "Loan Watch" thread for updates, one singular thread with all the updates you need exactly like the Ex Player thread i created to stop all the Alfie May, Marquis etc threads that were popping up all over.

I mean i have zero clue who moderates the forum but if it was up to me thats what i would making sure happens to keep it all in one place. A simple search of Will Flint or Bobby Faulkner would've brought up several previous threads that could've been revived. Ask CBCB he knows the score!

At least one person agrees with me LDR (thanks). It is what it is however just a minor gripe.

I agree 5 minstogo and like our players in the last couple of months its hard to shine when all around you are not that good.
Gateshead's midfield have been awful all season and a new manager and three new players didn't help their cause today or the pitch that looked to be freezing up by the minute.
In those conditions its not making mistakes that proves the good players, and in that respect he did well playing the simple ball.
Some of our first team players would have struggled on there with their poor first touch and flexibility.

I like the updates but think everyone has misinterpreted what Fal was saying.

Ideally these updates want to be in one thread that continues so we can read back in it rather than a new one.

Selby, maybe start a young uns on loan thread or similar? But definitely keep the updates coming. Im not able to watch the lads so I find it useful and for what its worth I would have had Faulkner in the squad from Jan to now. If it didnt work then now would be the time to loan out IMO.

Keep up the good work. :scarf:

Well done on missing the point i was getting at, Ryaldinho has it spot on. Its not the topic or conversation i was talking about, just that its better in one continious thread rather than a bunch of new ones each weekend they play.

And where does it stop....

If you and your cavalry agree thats when.

LDR with his childish posts today never got a response.

I would understand if it was daily or even weekly posts.

Leave Selby alone

I think someones touched a nerve with our Sven Vath here, misses the point continually, assumes inaccurate things. Posters are free to do what they like, however i was simply making a suggestion and have zero issue with Selby at all. You go on many club message board and they generally always have one thread for ex players, loan players, matchday etc and thats all i was getting at.

As for a cavalry, i don't have one, there are just some posters who actually understand and get where i was coming from....but alas its not down to me and i ain't going to lose sleep over it.

Being an old fart, and not particularly with  the modern way of communicating all I can say is that my whole intention was just to convey the fact that Will had played a game in a team that had three new debutants, are on a long series of losses and bad results and have a new manager, and in a game where the optics of the pitch got more frozen as the game went on making it difficult for the players.
In those circumstances and having played at a time when snow and ice  were not considered a danger to life and limb, the main thing was not to make mistakes as an individual.
Nobody is going to run a game in those conditions and the mark of a good player is not making mistakes, which Will for the most part did in a game nobody would stand out in,
He is good player technically, and is an athlete as well, he needs to be carefully nurtured by the management and given their backing being at the crunch moment of his career mostly at this club, something we have failed to do for one reason or another to young players in the past.
Just my thoughts others can disagree.

Kyle Hurst returned from Gateshead according to a post on their fb page, no mention of Flints loan status though

It is welcome to hear about any player that is signed with our club.

Why does everyone have to read every thread and post and then moan about it? Just move on.
