Those of you who were there yesterday, based on what you saw, what would now be your strongest starting 11?

Without signing a much needed centre half it’s the below (not accounting for injuries as I’m probably not up to date)

              Clark
Sterry Pearson Bailey Maxwell
      Gotts Broadbent
    Moly  Clifton. Haks
        Okoronkwo

I like the idea of Gibson in the 10 and maybe it’s negative of me to say Clifton gets the nod. Also I’d prefer we sign a good centre half then Bailey goes into the Clifton position with his role getting into the box and been a bit of a bully about the park. Not put Robinson in but that’s just because I haven’t seen much of him and rate Broadbent so he’s got the shirt if fit

Although Bailey was great in League Two theres no guarentee he would make a great centre back in League One, its a completely different kettle of fish

Based on what I've seen: -

Oram

Sterry
Pearson
Bailey
Maxwell

Broadbent
Gotts

Adelakun
Clifton
Molyneux

Okoronkwo

I haven't seen Clark play but clearly he should start with Oram on the bench.

I haven't seen enough of Oram to know if he's good enough to be deputy so potentially would be looking to sign another goalkeeper.

I'd also bring in a centre half (if not 2) as priority and then move Bailey into midfield in place of Broadbent.

Yep, I'd go with this. Especially the option with another quality centre back to free up Bailey

Our best chance of staying up IMO:

Clark

Sterry
New CB
Bailey
Maxwell

Broadbent or new centre mid
Gotts

Molyneux
Clifton
Adelakun

Francis

Possibly a new centre mid in place of GB.

I like Gibson and him and Middleton to get lots of minutes and compete with the other attackers.

Do not play Sharp. Hanlan and Francis to share the load and contribute. Avoid playing McGrath and Pearson (I'd sign 2 centre halves).

While not impossible, from what McCann has said it doesn't seem likely that he is going to sign a centre back. He also really doesn't like playing Bailey as a centre back unless he really has to do this. All that said, we are probably looking at something like this:

Clark

Sterry
McGrath
Pearson
Maxwell

Bailey
Gotts
Clifton

Adelakun
Francis
Molyneux

If you answer the question SS posted then based on Saturdays performance Bailey wouldn't be in the starting X1

Faulkner will be given the chance when fit, then it's up to him, which he knows, and is up for the fight.
Nobody at the club is more dedicated than him and whoever he plays for will get all out effort to win games of football, it's the only way he knows how to play and train.

In the last seven games including the Stockport game we have let twenty goals in we have played 2 keepers 4 full backs and 4 different central defenders with one common denominator at central defence McGrath.

        Clark
Sterry Bailey McGrath Maxwell
      Gotts Broadbent
    Mols  Haks  Middleton
        Okoronkwo

I would suspect we sign another CB this window, which could see Bailey moved into CM and then McCann is high on Robinson who could come in and take spot.

Seems midfield is going to be a big fight, just need another player in CB and possible Faulkner back fit.

Is Faulkner not at Harrogate till the end of the season? I'd choose him over McGrath every day of the week.

Gotts
Bailey
Clifton*

Molyneux
Okoronkwo
Adelakun

*Need 2 new centre backs and an upgrade on Clifton in that more advanced role. I like Clifton’s whole attitude and he pops up with goals but we’re missing some real creativity in there with that little bit of class.

Your likes of Gibson are above average L2 wingers, love the lad but he isn’t good enough.

Sort those positions and we stay up pretty comfortably.

Nixon and Senior have been two of the outstanding performers this season, in my opinion.

McGrath unfortunately been one of the worst. Priority has to be a CB, as I don't think McGrath or Grehan are good enough at the moment to keep us solid. Pearson plus Bailey works ok, but ideally an athletic CB comes in during this window.

Top end of the field looks much brighter, as does the middle if we're playing a proper ten, and Gotts is hitting good form but an extra body in midfield in the window wouldn't hurt I don't think!

Yes Faulkner is on a season long loan and is still a couple of weeks or ,ore away from match fitness.
We need desperately to get some points the next three or four league games or it will be very difficult to survive.

With the personnel we have, it wouldn't surprise me if McCann more often than not switches to a back 5, with one recognised Centee Back flanked by Senior and Bailey (or the other CB and Grehan) the width could be either full backs or attackers in a 5 2 3.

I think Gotts and Robinson will be the two peeferred CMs, then perm the front 3 attacking options, probably Mols, Haks and Okoronkwo as starters, then we would still have a very strong bench.

Clark

Senior
McGrath
Bailey

Sterry
Gibson

Gotts
Robinson

Mols
Okaraonkwo
Haks

There's so many more options in that formation which can adjust during games.

Gibson as a wing back would be absolutely suicidal
