Started slowly and gradually improved. By the end we were all over them. Could and should have had a lot more goals.Defending good. Fleetwood hardly threatened at all. Midfield I thought was really good tonight. Billy had a great game and Haks and Moly were on fire when they came on although the latter missed three sitters. All in all fairly positive if you ask me.

One on ones with the keeper are never sitters.

Fair comment. He missed three very good chances but looked brilliant otherwise as did Haks.

Hanlan & Middleton were poor first half and, generally, it was very disjointed. Second half improved a little but after Haks and Mols came on we were different gravy.  Mols could and should have had a hat-trick!

We have to get a cb and a midfielder for me. Clifton and Grehan both off injured (Grehan looked the worst of the two).

The game changed when the wingers swapped sides and Middleton went to the left and Hanlan on the right. We could/ should have scored more. The gulf in quality between a L1 side and an average L2 is pretty big. Grehan went off injured which wasn’t ideal. Broadbent was my MoTM.

Felt more confident with Zander than TLT. Confident. Excellent kicking. Defense seemed more at ease

I agree, the gap between the levels looked huge on that performance.  Adelakun and Molyneux are different level in those positions, clearly the top two starters. We really should have scored more.

Robinson impressed me, he picked up so many loose balls and ticked play over really well.  I liked Broadbent with more freedom. There is no doubt how good Billy's finishing is even at his age but the touch and finish from Adelakun was different class, outstanding.

Really impressed with Robinson. They didn’t test Zander too much but he dealt with what he had to well and his kicking is long. Hakeeb was class when he came on .

Think many are reading far too much into the game. Yes we have now entered the rounds where it feels a bit more than a glorified friendly but, it’s still seen as an opportunity to give players game time and try out different roles. We rarely play well in the first halves of games at the best of times never mind taking out our 3 best players in Bailey, Molyneux and Haks so it was always going to be a game we had to grow into. Once we got the goal I thought we controlled it. Into the next round but I wouldn’t have spat my dummy out had we lost. Season starts on Saturday for me. Hopefully we get a CB in before it and start getting some wins under our belt.

Have to agree we need a centre back in of the likes if not potentially better than O’Riordan.

We will test teams more now attacking wise with the addition of Haks. He offers so much more movement & unpredictable nouse that we have missed & in doing so will hopefully take the ‘burden’ off Mols to be our ‘game changer’.

What happened between Mols and their lad at the end? Mols was fuming about something.

Mols was over the line out of play, ball rebounded off him and their player booted it at him to kick it out of play. Mols squared up, their player didn't backdown, then they had handbags

Tonight's game showed that we are genuine League One standard and our table.position is misleading. We upped a gear when we brought our big guns on and Molyneux is far and away one of the best players in this division.

Mols let his frustration boil over with those missed chances right there.
If he tucked any of those away prior then he wouldnt of reacted like he did.
Dont think ive seen him lose it like that ever before!! Actually thought he was gonna throw a right hook at one point.

This was my thoughts exactly and truth be told they were shocking misses TBF , had all the time in the world for the first and could easily have rounded the keeper. If we weren't cruising at this point you'd be fuming if you were GM. Haks on the other hand was calmness personified for his finish, he just has that bit of an x factor about him, he almost seems to play the game at his own pace due to his ability to create time & space for himself.

I said on Saturday that Haks is a street footballer. Just plays off the cuff and comes alive when he has the ball.
His first touch is ridiculously good, he doesn't think about his next move, he just does it.

I like how he forces urgency into others. He takes quick throws and last night we took a quick corner (when he saw a potential 2v1) for the first time in a long time.

I also like how he just sat in narrow when he came on doing a pretty disciplined job with us being in front.

His decision making is pretty good and I think there’s a case for him being a bit more selfish at times. On Saturday he was a little bit safe at times.

All good to hear.

It was good to hear Billy in his post match interview responding to the observation that we grew into the game. Saying we can't afford to do that, we've got to be on it from the start.

It's one of those obvious things but can't be stressed enough and always makes us wonder why it takes too long for the penny to drop.

Having seen the highlights it was good to see Broadbent on it, particularly the surging run he made for the second. That's something we've rarely seen and need to see more of.

I thought their keeper was very poor, should have saved all 3 goals, and Zander should have saved theirs

I think he will prove to be a great signing. For all the talk of him being a luxury he showed what we’ve been missing tonight, and not just going forward put a shift in tracking back when Nixon went forward (underlapping?) on that side.

Until we got the first goal the quality of the game by both sides was  the poorest of the season and only picked up after we got confidence from the goal.

Playing Saturday on a frozen pitch looks to have knackered it for the rest of the season.
