2nd goal
« on February 28, 2026, 04:10:19 pm by coventryrover »
Sat here in disbelief.

The guy just ran straight.    I am not going to blame one player but that was shocking defending , from back to front.

Game over

Get the lads down the pub, have a pint. Forget the game ever happened. Back again Monday.

Poor from Rovers today, Cardiff easily the best team we've played.

I’m going to blame one player, he gave up twice, Molls, he had the chance to take him out in the centre circle, he gave up, then had another go to get him nearer our area and then just stopped. The lad picked the ball up on the edge of his own D and just ran straight, no one got near him, disgraceful defending

Bailey had to get engaged rather than backing off as he did.
Thought he was very poor today, no idea how he got man of the match

Just to say I wasn't expecting much today, they are a really good side with a midfield that won't look out of place in the Championship, they had runners in behind us & quality players that could pick them out. However, that second goal showed exactly what we are missing at times, leadership & responsibility, that goal shouldn't happen at any level, totally & utterly embarrassing, was like the parting of the waves.

Thought we pressed well first half & although you could see the difference in quality if we could have held it at 0-1 we could have had a real go in the last half hour. We then allow a player to run straight through midfield & defence & pick his spot so easily & the games dead. McCann must have been pulling his hair out.

Nothing changes of course & we still need to get the wins needed to stay up, but I think today showed we are what we are, a below average league 1 side, hopefully we get the points, & improve again in the summer. Jack Senior my pick of the performances today.

He's a better defender than a midfield player

I had zero expectation today, but thought we started well.  Much better than the first half at Rotherham (wouldn't be hard).  As soon as we gifted the 2nd goal the game was gone.....shame a few fans walked at when the 3rd went in..................

Let’s not blame Hanlan. That second goal was shocking from a team perspective and the fourth. Wow

It was like an under 9’s goal.

I would like to know the distance he travelled with the ball and we just stepped aside.

It killed us.

I thought we had the best chances in the first half where we competed well.

Good teams do seem to carve their way through us far too often

moly was never within 5 or 6 yards of him so not sure why your picking him out, strolled past McGrath and then can understand Bailey backing off to a certain extent but not that deep, just a bad goal full stop to concede

The second goal was the only grumble for me today, it killed any hope of us getting back into it and was utterly embarrassing that we allowed him to run all the way unchallenged.

Apart from that we deservedly got beat by the best team in the league who were levels above us. Move on and forget about it, the lack of boos at the final whistle just shows sometimes you got to hold your hand up and accept we got beat by a good team.

Agree with most on here.   Their midfield were superb.   Never had a goal linger with me like that 2nd goal.     Proper took the ond out of me

Got to put it behind us somehow

Genuinely one of the worst goals I've seen any team concede, ever. Outrageously bad defending.

Terrible goal to concede at a terrible time in the game. That being said, they were just a lot better than us and sometimes that’s all you can say. We’ve got bigger fish to fry in the next few weeks with the games around us that will determine our league status, not today.

I really don’t see how you can single out molls, their player just ran through so many without any challenge.

Perfectly summed up.
There are some huge teams around, and we are not one of them.
We have an opportunity to stay in this league and play teams like Cardiff rather than Crawley, Fleetwood etc and take things on the chin.
A bounce back on Tuesday would give us, as a little club a huge Wembley treat, Vertu cup or not, it’s as good as it can get for TLOD, so embrace and move on.
In addition 13 games 14 points needed, enjoy the excitement and nervous stomach tremors, it’s what we watch sport for.

lack of effort in that moment he could have easily come across and taken him out on halfway

On one hand, give their player some credit. A class player oozing confidence at centre half but having the ball skills many midfielder or forward would be happy to have. Once he got running and got the bit between his teeth, he wasn't going to stop but probably to his surprise the red sea parted  on the edge of the box, he calmly passed the ball into the corner.

Total panic from our boys...run away...hide!!

Right on. Hanlan's also to blame for the war in Iran, global warming and the milk going off.

We win that game 5 or 6 nil if Bobby Faulkner played ;)

All our players was like "After You Claude , No After You Cecil " to all of their players.

Cardiff got the 2nd ball every time and played for each other.

You obviously know nothing about him.
