I only saw one bad finish, Clifton’s. Hanlans shot was on target at power, but the defender made an unbelievable clearance. Did we create anything else?
I’m not having Hanlon at all.He couldn’t hold up a bank if the staff had all gone on a lunch break together. He has no pace & when set free for the best ‘a real centre forward’ would have buried, he fluffed his lines.Jogs around the pitch waiting for the ball. He doesn’t close down or chase back he looks as though he couldn’t give a t**s.We need much, much better come the summer.Cringe at the thought he has another year to run on his contract.
Hanlan's mistake with that chance was staying on his feet when the defender ran into his back. That shove, and his lunge to stay on his feet, left the ball between his feet rather than a yard ahead. So he had to chop his stride to get into position to shoot, and that gave the other defender the spit second to get a block in.Short of shooting from 25 yards out, once that shove in the back had momentarily unbalanced him, he could not physically have got his shot away any quicker than he did. I await the rants of those who will look at the unarguable evidence on the match video and still insist they are right.
