One for DU or BST. When was the last time we won at Barnsley in a league game before Saturday?

I've been loads of times over the last few years, and I can't remember seeing a Rovers win.

Hi mate, we won 1-0 there (Copps scored) in The Championship in 2010 and 2-0 in L1 in 2005.
If you type into google Barnsley v Doncaster 11v11 you can see all the results between the two clubs since the first meeting back in 1901.
(Wolfie tells me he was at the 1901 match).
You can find results of any clubs using the same method.
By the way, after the 2010 match we were in 8th place in the Championship after 40 matches.
Heady days.

Me too.

And me - Alick & Laurie scored two each and I seem to remember it was a close blood and thunder match, and then we scored three late goals for a very flattering scoreline.

In fact I saw us win twice at Oakwell that season - we won 2-1 in a league cup replay which earned us a home tie against Division 1 Burnley and a near 25K crowd - the biggest I have been in for a Rovers Home game.

Just too young for that one, but remember the 0-2 very well. Mulligan put a volley top corner to win it in front of us, after Copps had been kicked in to row Z first half. Got a bit heated on the way out of the stadium if I remember rightly as well. A good day out in the sun, much like this Saturday.

Always remember the foggy night barely could see anything but think we won 3-1 in 2004! Then 2-0 the following year and 5-2 in the LDV

A more interesting stat is that Rovers have NEVER before won at both barnsley and rotherham in the same season.

I was at both games in 1965, I remember one of the train rides back to Donny, a bit riotous in a good way.

Slightly related stat - we have had two league seasons in our history where we never won outside of Yorkshire

In 1904-05, our away record read P17 W0 D0 L17

In 2013-14, under Dickov in the Championship, our only two away wins were at Hillsborough and Elland Road

We won no away cup games in either of those seasons

I was wondering about that on Satdi night. I wonder how many times we've played both in the same season. I bet you could count them on the fingers of one hand in the last 60 years.

Six times then, according to a Barnsley fan.

remember this. A great day out! Im sure Uriah Rennie was the ref that day. Came out with my two lads (8 & 10 at the time) and got offered out by a couple of six fingered idiots!! Police just stood around chatting!

I was a guest of a Barnsley supporting customer in one of the hospitality boxes when Mulligan hit that volley into the top corner.
I was directly in line behind it and as soon as the shot was struck I knew it was unsaveable and jumped up and shouted “yyyyeeeeessssss”.
Everyone in the box and a couple of hundred dingles in the crowd in front of me gave me the stare of death.
I suppose I was a bit out of order but my reaction was just spontaneous and luckily the customer took it well and continued to trade with me for many years afterwards.

Easy - just that one season. The only other league win we have had at Hillsborough was in 2009-10 (Elliot Ward overhead kick game) while the self-proclaimed champions of Europe were still in League 1

We did win a League Cup match at Hillsborough in 1978-79 when were in Division 4 but we didn't play Leeds that year.

Just had a look for myself. Think I've got this right.

- Faced both in the same season: 18 times (one of these we weren't in the same division but played Rotherham in the FA Cup) - only two of these seasons have been in the last 50 years though (2005/06 and 2025/26), having been in the same division as both quite a bit in the 1930s, 50s, and 70s.

- Beat both in the same season at any venue: 6 times, most recent before this season being 2005/06 when we did the double over Barnsley, and W1 L1 vs Rotherham.
