McCann changed his mind as he didn't want Pearson on the right of the back three.I think McGrath's confidence has taken a knock this season and it's been a good thing to take him out the firing line recently. Pearson and Byrne have done a good job and deserve the starts they're getting atm. I think there's a good player in there with JMc though, and the OTT criticism of him doesn't help. Funny how certain players attract way more flak than others. See also Hanlan who I think has been instrumental to our upturn in fortunes, but still gets called every name under the sun.

I would throw Gibbo into the chat too, has clearly struggled this season but has been better lately & worked hard for the cause. Some just can't wait to get on his back though.
It really is laughable, now. All I can say is at least Selby is consistent! McGrath will have his time, as he’s signed on for longer and committed himself to the Rovers cause, which is more that can be said of Selby’s lovechild. It’s time to move on.
It's no coincidence that we have picked up points after McGrath was dropped.
On 80 minutes the decision to substitute Byrne was taking place, with Clifton to come on for Lee and to my horror McGrath stripped off ready to come on. With a narrow lead of one goal, and their substitute No8 making a difference and carrying the ball at our defence at pace I couldn't believe it. Then someone made the decision put your top back on and Bailey was put back to the central defence position. Whoever thought of that in the circumstances needs a medal as big as a dusbin lid.

Some just can't wait to get on his back though.Gibbo was good last night, and vs Barnsley, and in his cameo at Rotherham as well. I think his "languid" looking style and reserved persona probably don't help but he's done some great work off the ball recently IMO. I think he needs to have a bit more conviction sometimes on the ball and with his decision making, but certainly hasn't done anything lately to warrant pelters. Haks gets criticism for the same reasons - not everybody is a chest-thumping passionate player. I think players who perhaps look more "busy" get an easier ride sometimes.

Whatever you think, and whoever changed the player going on the pitch at that time with the position of the game at that time, it was the right one to give us the best chance of seeing the game out and a 1-0 win, and having trust in the players tasked with seeing it out.

Why hasn’t Faulkner been making the Harrogate squad? Is he injured again?
