Really hope we are sorting a contract out for the lad, him and Gotts have been outstanding since getting back into the side

100% agree monkeytennis, you’ve summed him up perfectly.

He really is a pleasure to watch for exactly the reasons you’ve stated.

I’ve never not rated Jack and for a lot of games have really felt for him when he’s not made the squad and only used for the Vertu games. He’s certainly gone up a level since becoming first choice. I think he’s taken confidence from that and fought really hard to not lose the shirt. He’s an asset in my opinion and important to tie him down. Maxwell should be on his bike. He’s had his chances this season, been really poor and still been in and out of fitness.

I disagree that Maxwell should be "on his bike".

I said to our kid during the game on Tuesday that I think our full backs are the strongest part of our squad.
4 good players there.

All our 4 wing backs are competant for this level.

We have alot more areas that require attention before that.

The drop off from Sterry to Nixon is huge, which isn’t great if we are wanting to progress again next season given Sterry does pick up knocks that keep him out here and there. Definitely need to be upgrading on Nixon and Maxwell after his foot/toe issues hasn’t kicked on.

We can’t be guilty of overrating our squad. Well fans can I guess but it’s vital the management don’t.

He’s been a revelation since he’s held down the left back position. But to allow his contract get to the last few weeks of the season seems to put it in the players hands and it of the clubs ..

I’ll be surprised if a decent L1 club wants him. Should be an easy contract to get sorted.

I disagree. I think Tom's a very good player. His only problem is he seems to pick up a lot of injuries.

McCann suggested this may be because Nixon doesn't do what is expected of him in training

Are you in a position to know what contract negotiations are going on.?

Really!
Jack has come a long way since we signed him. He has not played every game but whenever he has come into the starting 11 he has played reasonably well. Currently in recent games he has helped to improve our defensive performance and has proved that he somewhat versatile to be able to play in any position, and has the ability to move forward with the ball.
Thus why would a decent L1 not want him?

Because we are not that good mate and he’s not one of our better players. He’s had a good 2nd half of the season (possibly longer) for us but it’s all relative.

I must say, I am one of his fans. I love how he plays. Hopefully a new contract is signed soon. I’d be more worried about a L2 side offering him more promises though than a L1 side nabbing him.

Jack has been a revelation since getting his feet in at the position, great going forward, some superb passing, and very good defending, his heading win rate must be high and he ain’t the tallest. It’s a position you need to be strong in, as typically you are up against the opposing sides better player.

I like and feel frustrated by Maxwell in equal measure, he has all the abilities, but some flaws that I thought with time would be eradicated, but despite all the game time they haven’t. He doesn’t seem to be progressing at all.

Very much agree. Right from when Maxwell first signed, he's promised much but always fallen short.  Yes, sometimes due to injury but when he's got going again, he's been average with his runs towards the box and whipped in crosses are all too rare. Jack has been much more dynamic and more of what we should expect of full backs at this level. He's brave and bold. Maxwell isn't.

One of the more easier end of the season for contract renewals this summer i feel for Grant to decide on who he want to keep

This is exactly the kind of problem I highlighted when McCann signed his son. If we get rid of either Senior or Maxwell it will leave McCann open to accusations he’s got rid of competition for his son’s place.

I do like maxwell but it kinda of reminds me that of Kyle Hurst. Young player with lots of promise but the potential has not been realised.

I do agree on Senior though he’s been excellent this season.

Already ‘nailed my colours’ to this lad’s mast a long time ago when certain other posters were saying Maxwell as our left back was one of our only two saleable assets in this squad.

Forget their/his username….something G? Coming back to me..GasLamp…GasLass..no sorry. Can’t remember.

Not that it matters.

A bit like his/her/their opinion really given how the seasons panning out.

Maxwell a good back up mind.

Let’s concentrate on finding a replacement for Hanlan as our only current available No.9 going into next season.

Banjo, arse, donkey & all that. What say you Gaz…?..nope, gone again.

No doubt someone will Nudge me.

Agree with all the comments regarding Jack and a new deal. His grit and determination was there for all to see when he first sighned, but this run at left back has seen him go up a level! Literally too, as this is his first season in League 1. Equally comfortable in a back 3, but I think he's got better going forward too. In the recent Luton game, with a bit more luck and composure, he could have had 3 assists. He looks like an infectious character who enjoys playing for Donny, and seems like a great lad too. His reactions to scoring his two cup goals against Chesterfield have been among my favourite moments of the season.

It's a yes from me!

Strange guy. Weird how he's digging out both of us when we've not interacted with him/her/they/them for weeks. Sad life for a sad little man seeking attention like this.

Very strange. We are in one of the best long term runs of form we've had at this level in decades, and yer man wants to slag off the lad who gets his shirt ripped off his back leading the line every week.

Mind it was ever thus. We had an even better long run under Moore and folk we still moaning that it was boring to watch.

Best player on the pitch again. How it was given to Sterry is beyond me.
