Rovers museum open 10th to 12th April
« on April 02, 2026, 04:09:29 pm by GlennKirkwoodFanClub »
Next weekend, In Rovers We Trust CIC will be opening up the Doncaster Rovers Football Museum in the South Stand for the public.

The museum will be open from 11am  to 3pm on Friday 10th April, then from 11am to 1.00 on Saturday 11th April and 11am to 3pm on Sunday 12th April.

On Friday 10th, stadium tours will be available on the hour every hour, subject to demand, but these are only available on the Friday.

The admission is free but donations would be appreciated for the Memorial to be erected in Hyde Park Cemetery to celebrate the lives of Doncaster Rovers founder, Albert Jenkins and all the other former Rovers players, manages, coaches and Directors that are buried there.

Regardless of whether you attend or not, you can always donate to the Memorial Fund via https://inroverswetrust.org/memorial-project which will direct you to the Ticketing Section of the Doncaster Rovers Website. You can also contribute by calling in at the box office during normal opening hours. It will be the last Friday of the Easter Holidays, so if you are stuck for something to do with the kids or just want to see a load of Rovers Memorabilia, come down and see it for yourselves.

Thanks
Colin & Rich

For exiles like myself, can the museum be viewed online?

We did an introductory video at the November event which gives a flavour of it. Colin talks you through it with Phil:

Bear in mind this was Take 1 with no rehearsal or script and we're all volunteers!

We're aiming to build a permanent physical museum and a virtual museum one day. So far we have occasional pop-up exhibitions like this and the items posted on Instagram and Facebook:

Can a video be made and posted online of next week’s exhibition in the South stand, so exiles like myself can enjoy seeing what is displayed, and maybe a commentary to?

Just a reminder that the museum is open to the public tomorrow (Friday), Saturday and Sunday.  We have some former players that have said they will attend and Donny Dog is joining us on Friday. Trying to raise funds for the Memorial to former players in Hyde Park Cemetery.

If you have any memorabilia that you think will be of interest, please bring it along.
11 - 3 Friday and Sunday, 11 - 1 Saturday.

Thank you for everyone that came to the museum today. It was great to have Colin Douglas join us and we are hoping a couple more former players will call in tomorrow.

Open 11am until 1pm tomorrow (matchday) and then 11am to 3pm on Sunday. We'd love to see you there.

It is a bit late, I know, but I would just like to put on record our thanks to all of you that attended the museum at the Stadium last weekend. We were honoured to have Colin Douglas join us on Friday, followed by James O'Connor on Saturday, with Jim donating a blue Carlotti Rovers shirt in which he had scored his very first Rovers goal.

We also received donations of memorabilia from a number of sources and all were different and told their own story. From a pendant that one person had on the back of his bike in the sixties, through to the wife of former player Stan Brookes donating the scrapbooks that he had kept covering all his career. We also received pendants, tea trays and many photographs that had obviously been collected over a long time. We are grateful for them all.

We also received donations of money towards the Memorial fund for the former players to be built in Hyde Park Cemetery. These were mainly collected from the stadium tours that I gave on Friday. Again thank you to all those that attended the tours and especially those that gave towards the memorial fund. I hope those that attended the tours enjoyed them. I now know that a tour takes a little longer than I had planned for.

We were sorry that we had to turn people away, closer to kick off time on Saturday. We had arranged a private viewing of the museum for the Remembering Rovers Group for dementia sufferers. However the number of people that attended over the weekend, generally, has told us that this is a project worth developing although we do have a limitation on the space that we have available as we simply can't show all the things we have.

At the moment no museum openings are in the pipeline until the National Heritage week in September where we have committed to opening the museum and hosting Stadium Tours again, although there is five months in between, so never say never. We have received a couple of requests to take the museum back on the road, like we did at Mexborough and Askern libraries last year. This is something that we are considering, but we have to balance it against the fact that it takes about nine hours to set up and five hours to take down, and that is in the room next to the storeroom we are using, so it isn't practical to run the museum anywhere just for a couple of hours. And then there is insurance to consider.

Final thanks to Phil Quinn, Paul Mayfield & John Coyle for helping out on the days and thanks to the club for lending the League 1 trophy for 2012/13 and the League 1 trophy from last year. And to all those that attended and donated. We really enjoyed putting on the exhibitions. Thank you.

It was brilliant thanks again my son loved it and it all helps making them support the rovers in future as he was asking about the museum again before the reading game , not bad to say he is only 3 I think I might have done my job as a dad :-)
