Rotherham

I agree with the lad who turned up on Praise or Grumble last night, it is a shame that they are going down, one less local derby, one less rivalry to create interest. The more we have the better, hopefully we don't lose Huddersfield or Barnsley, but we do gain the Wendies, trying to be Billy Big Bo***cks as they pass through on the way to League 2. Good luck to them next season. It's a shame to be losing Lincoln too, lots of links there, including a spell for King Alick in his later career.

Chesterfield or Grimsby could come up through the L2 playoffs.

Who'd have thought League One would be swapping Lincoln for Leicester.

Yep, and might might be getting WBA or Portsmouth too next season.

I always think the more derby games the better and I don't really want to see any of them go down .

For sure beat them home and away and finish above them in the table .

In an ideal world Barnsley , Rovers and Wednesday would all be promoted next season from League One .

Imagine the interest surrounding that kind of campaign and pushing each other along .

I remember the titanic battles we had with the Millers in the very early 80's when we were both battling it out for promotion from the old third division .

Huge games and rivalry at that time .

I hope for more. I hope they rot down into non-league and become a shell of the club they are even now, just like Scunthorpe. Hopefully playing at that low level, with the stadium their in will be a tight enough noose to keep them forever worrying for their clubs existence. That can’t be fun.

Rotherham as a club, I like.

Rotherham fans, who attacked my Rotherham supporting uncle for criticising the player style at my first ever match as a 6 or 7 year old as he held my hand, and then spat on me and others as we left the New York many years later, I have no time for.

I’d rather more derbies but I won’t do Rotherham away ever again.

I had a horrible experience at Rotherham years ago when my boys were 4 and 6. I hope they plummet through the leagues and go part time

So you'll not be going to Rovers ever again then nor your lads, given an Exter fan who was a child got beat up and sent to DRI by our fans? Or would it be stupid to have one experience dictate the rest?

Well that’s not his own personal experience it is, it’s that Exeter kid and his family?

He stopped going to a certain game because he and his kids had an horrible experience doesn’t mean he will stop going to a different one because he and his kids didn’t.

I agree with most of this, but not massive Wednesday. I don't want them to go bust etc, just continuing to lose and suffer with their 900 million fans.  Even Rovers in the 90s performed better than them.

It's tough for Rotherham and I think they're in a similar position we were under JR.  Eventually the money does run out and it is tough when that happens. Cutting the budget and trying to break even doesn't work, football as a business doesn't allow it.  Even in league one you need owners worth tens of millions to just even be competitive unless you have one or two miracle seasons.  It's tough for the genuine fans but football is cyclical as we well know.  They've had it really good for 10 years or so, clubs like ours will always then have a downside.

I want all the derbies against the clubs our size and for us to win them.

BFYP, when JR resigned we were still in the Championship,  I don't think you can blame him for the destruction of the club by Blunt with his drive to make us "sustainable" by getting rid of any talent and bringing in poor quality staff.

I can’t comment at the example you give. I can comment about something I experienced first hand. It hasn’t stopped me going. I’ve been home and away every league game this season and only missed a couple of cup games due to illness and holiday. My now 15 year old comes with me to every game but at the time it traumatised them both to the point where one didn’t even want to watch us play Rotherham at home. There were grown adults spitting on children and throwing things at us.

Unfortunately there are too many incidents in football like the example you give.
I haven’t stopped going to games I just hope Rotherham drop down the leagues

I totally agree

And a reasonable good stadium like Leicester

I don't disagree with you.  However whatever anyone thinks of JR he'd have carried on sinking £ after £ in if he had it and that did set us back.  Now years later, TB is continually sinking even more £££s in.  There's no other way.

You were obviously at the same game as me Scooter. An awful experience and the Police didn’t help much either. It was like running the gauntlet. I was relieved when I got back to the car! Never had that anywhere else.

Think we got battered at Leicester a few times last time we were in the same division.

That 5-1 loss at the Walkers stadium was a miserable day. Think Darius Vassell scored for them.

Wellens also scored for them. We actually took lead and they didn’t equalise until pen on stroke of HT.

Wasn't it a milestone goal for Billy Sharp in that game? Something like his 100th or 150th professional goal? Can't find the video now as it's been taken down from YouTube but I'm sure he revealed a shirt underneath his Rovers shirt when he scored to mark the milestone.

Thought the last game was the 1-0 final day game when we last were in the championship?
