If York go up on Saturday, can see him there.

Thanks for the memories Billy.
Will never forget the courage shown to play against Middlesbrough then to score that goal.

Not going Scunny according to Butler. Comes across like he doesn’t like him for whatever reason.

Literally just came here to say exactly that having just seen the clip on twitter

Pretty awkward exchange that might’ve been bought if it was audio only but the facials said it all

I’m sure Billy Sharp won’t lose any sleep over what a man who gets changed out of a tracksuit into a turtle neck for a sky sports interview, then back into a tracksuit, thinks about him.

I’ll always hold Butts in high regards after that header at Charlton but there’s definitely something there between them. 2 big personalities I suppose.

Possibly more of the case of one big personality and one not very big personality. One couldn’t handle the other.

He possibly knows that Billy would be on decent money and with having his coaching badges would be an option for the owners to turn to if results aren’t up to scratch.
I went off Andy when he turned up to a televised Rovers match dressed up smart on the touchline rather than the usual tracksuit.
A great player for us though.

It's a weird one that.

I remember Butler left Sheff Utd only a couple of months after signing for them due to some sort of bust-up (the season he joined us) and assumed it was that, but Sharp wasn't at Sheff Utd that season.

The only time they appear to have played together was at Scunny between 2005 and 2007. That's some grudge Butler is holding if it goes back that far!

Or he just doesn't need (or want) an old centre forward in his squad........ just perhaps

Maybe. His body language in the interview and the blunt answering of the question suggested there may be more to it than that though.

I think most managers would say something along the lines of "I respect Billy's career but he's not someone we're looking to sign" rather than such a blunt "Nope!"

Butler looked pissed that the reporter even dared asked the question, and then it got worse as he tried to push him for a reason why.

Billy, during his time with us under SOD, was hands down the best striker I’ve ever seen wear the shirt. His first goal for us at Scunthorpe was electric, and from that moment he never looked back. After being overlooked by Blackwell at his boyhood club, he clearly had a point to prove you could see the hunger in everything he did. It must have been incredibly frustrating for him to land his dream move only for it to fall apart due to poor management, but we gave him a place to belong, and he showed exactly why he’s the EFL’s all time leading goalscorer. The rest, as they say, is history.

All the best, Billy, in whatever comes next, you deserve every bit of success that comes your way. A true legend.

I would put money on that he is retiring at the end of the season and we will play a pre season friendly against Sheff Utd where he will play for 45 mins on each team.
you would lose your money, playing one last season, but with who? Scunthorpe odds on

Not if you listen to Andy butler think there is some bad blood so unless he leaves then Billy won’t be going to scunny

He would've probably won it if their defenders didn't have their hands all over him from I think a long throw near the end.

I got quite emotional after the game when he came to the South Stand and saw the look on his face as we were all singing his name, and realising that we are unlikely to see him in our shirt at the KM/ Eco.

He deserves to have his ‘image’ up there at the back of the South Stand alongside all Rovers other legends.
