New striker
« on May 05, 2026, 01:21:25 pm by mushRTID »
Official account just posted video of Grant describing a player we’re talking to;

“Experienced, scores goals, great character” he says.

They wouldn’t post that if a signing wasn’t imminent!?

Eaves has been released today, so it probably tracks.

I would imagine everybody has thought of that.

I’d would say Eaves or Magennis, both previous played under McCann

Agree with this. This will be an early indicator as to how this summer's recruitment will play out.

I'd rather we kept Sharp.

I don’t think that’s too relevant tbf. He’s clearly dog shit now. Won’t be him. Can’t be.

I haven't seen or heard anyone confirm the player in question is a striker.

Grants description...

1. Experienced
2. CAN score goals
3. A great character.

If it was a striker,  I'd expect him to say Scores goals, rather than Can score goals, so leads me to believe it's a midfielder and/or a wide player.

That’s a fair point. I guess we will find out fairly soon.

It would be a sensational bit of trolling if there isn’t a signing being announced today after all. The head loss after they posted the eyes emoji

By going so early, it’s not going to be anyone still involved in the play offs.

McGoldrick, Jerry Yates, Alfie May all guesses on Twitter.

Also maybe worth a look at the relegated teams retained lists.

Cameron McGeehan and Sam Hoskins have been offered new deals at Northampton.

My own guess (same as January) I believe Grant really likes Joe Taylor.

He’s a good player. No doubt. But he’s too small for the lone striker role we like to play.

I could be wrong but the fact that McCann says great character to me says he’s worked with him before. Hope to God it’s not Eaves.

We can, just officially won't happen until the window opens. Like "so and so will join the club on 1st june" etc

Sam Gallagher from Stoke a McCann profile striker?
But he’s been a Championship player for ages so would have high wages.
