EFL teams recruitment is generally less global than the Premiership .Imagine it being expensive to cast a world wide net especially if , as Grant professes , you are seeking compatible characters for the squad .I think Ireland is a good compromise hunting ground for DRFC .

Championship is becoming a mini Premier League with its recruitment. Lots from abroad and 7 figure fees are the norm. Look here at the list of Champ signings last season.

  A lot of signings are lazy signings. The agents of senior people at the club like managers and coaches wanting a favour doing and the managers and coaches wanting favours replicated later on.
  It's not unknown for a player to rock up nobody at the club has seen or heard of, and family members or friends of  being taken on.

Think the world has changed a lot since we were last in the Championship. For us to get up there would be a huge achievement and we should aim for that. I don’t think we could stay there for much longer than that without a change of ownership and very likely a total change of identity. Personally I am content with being a bigger fish in the League One pond rather than Championship roadkill. Nice to get back up there again though.

Recently on this forum, there was a super article about Lincoln City. It detailed that Lincoln bought data for what I recall seemed a low sum of money (£10k??). They then filtered out the players that statistics suggested they would suit the clubs ethos. The final piece in the jigsaw was to then watch the player. Seems a very focused and time saving approach.

Jake Beesley to Bradford for a fee I dont think thats great business. Dont rate him, our defenders kept him very quiet from memory.

Notts C signed Cal Roberts, 40+ goals in 2yrs at Scunny.

Would've been interested in both of them personally......but Im sure we will start finding out soon.

I think we all forget at times this is business and work, a job to pay the bills for those that are part of it.

This happens in every single line of work across every industry so absolutely believe it happens in football and other sports.

Bradford have signed Jake Beesley as their new no.9. He would have really suited what Grant asks for in a no.9. The smart time to get him may have passed though.
