Just a message to the idiots who booed Mark yesterday after he was substituted.  You are a disgrace, Mark may not be the worlds greatest player but as regards to his professionalism his contribution to Rovers cause cannot be underestimated.

SOD has stated he finds it difficult to leave him out when everybody's fit after the amount of effort the lad puts in on the training ground.  Mark's not a fool he's well aware that when everybody's fit & available the likelihood of him finding a place in the starting 11 is remote but that doesn't detract from the fact when he plays he gives 100%, and although I haven't always been his biggest advocate, when he gets booed off after giving his all makes me mad.

I saw his interview on DROS & he stated that some of his performances recently have been below par by his own admission so all I'm saying is get off his back & if your going to open your inarticulate mouths again you might think about shouting some words of encouragement rather than booing one of our own

Agree with all that, it`s about time the boo boys both on in the stadium and on here gave it a rest!

I was surrounded by a few loud mouths yesterday, sniping and criticising Wilson incessantly.

My take on his performance yesterday was that he seemed to be by a mile the busiest player in the middle, getting stuck in and doing masses of nitty gritty work, and made countless good passes.  But as with any player, a percentage of what they try doesn't come off, well if you're doing more than everybody else, then your percentage of failures will look like more than everybody elses.

I made a point of standing and cheering/applauding him when he was substituted, just by way of giving two fingers to the jeering moaning cnuts.

The problem with alot of the moaners is that they want 11 flair players on the pitch, Wilson is not a flair player, the likes of Copps and Oster are and yesterday no one gave the ball away more than Oster but you don`t here him get the abuse directed at him because his game is pleasing on the eye

I've said before that when Rovers are at their attacking best Copps and Oster tend to play well. Yesterday Copps did well but Oster just couldn't make a pass.
The Wilson debate will go on and on. He's not the best we've got, but he's not really 1st choice. The return of Stock or Woods will challenge the moaners to find another target.

i think that mark wilson isnt are greatest player and i can see him leaving at the end of this season. But even though i dont like him, he is wearing the red n white of the rovers and he works hard, i will never boo the bloke. Yess i have to admit i wasnt the happiest with his or hirds performance and was relieved wen he was subbed, ( too late in my eyes.) But i still stood up and clapped himm off thhe pitch.

Find me a player who is more professional and committed to the cause?  There isn't one.  For that alone he should never be booed.  I'd rather have 11 Mark Wilsons who never stop then 11 fancy dans who have more technique and couldn't care less.

Wilson's only crime is that he isn't as good as Stock, and those that boo him for it know feckall about football.

I'll be professional and committed, can I be a professional footballer?

And as for the last point, if we had 11 Mark Wilson's, and no technical fancy dans, we wouldn't be in this league.

But you are right in one sense, no player should be booed.

Totally agree. Top lad and a good player. You can't be a mug to be plying your trade in the Championship.

I for one (as you'll see on other threads) rate him for what he does for the team.

He'll be here next season. I can see him being offered a new contract.

Actually signed a 2 year deal last close season so he will be here next season.  Good news

Some players i rate and some i don't, but I agree with the original post, in so much as i would never boo a Rovers player or boo the team collectiveley either. I vent my frustration by shouting (swearing ...oops) and posting on forums but booing never.

This is the first time i've heard Wilson booed(don't know if this has happened before?), but i have heard Lewis Guy booed and it annoys the hell out of me.

Even though the pair of them may not be the top of peoples ratings i do appreciate that they will be performing to the best of their abilities, i just wish the booers could appreciate this.

For the record i rate Lewis but not Wilson. opinions are like arseholes........we've all got one.  ;)

It was actually 2 years ago that we gave him a 2 year deal. In the close season after our promotion. I don't recall us giving him an extension last year.

Whether his contract (and that of Guy's) is renewed this summer will speak volumes about our future ambitions.

I thought Guy got a 3 year deal after we were promoted?

That means he'll still be here next year unless somebody takes him off our hands. (Unlikely.)

Yes, our fans should support our players, but if anyone can even for a minute suggest that Mark Wilson gives 50% in a Rovers shirt, you’re barking. He didn’t win a header all afternoon, he’s so nesh he’s 3rd to everything, he didn’t make a meaningful tackle and went missing for large periods. We need to be loyal but not blind. We can all go around the houses and suggest why Guy is at the club; he’s league 1 standard but he busts a lung when he comes on, he contributes.

He's come in to some form recently, but 3 games out of 20 odd means Wilson is Doncaster Rovers’ unofficial Invisible Man.

Great post, totally agree. I'm a big fan of Wilson (though he has been a bit poor recently) and I hope he stays for a long time yet, he comes across as intelligent and knowledgeable and I hope he stays here to get into the coaching game like he is planning.

Unfortunately for Wilson though, he can't afford to have an off game.

Sure every player hits a run of bad form, but would SO'D pick an out of form Stocky ahead of him if he was fit? i think the answer would be \"yes\" because 'form is temporary, class is permanent.'

Wilson wasn't good enough when we had him in League 2, ok so he might have improved a bit, but he's not a Championship player. For a lad of 6 foot plus to go 90 minutes without winning a header or busting a gut at any stage speaks volumes.

And for the record, i thought that Hird was the better of the two on Saturday.

I thought Sam Hird was brilliant in there, an outside chance for MOTM. It can't of been easy for Sam being in and out the squad, but Saturday showed his quality on the deck.

Yes you are right think Hird could do a very good job as defensive midfielder.
As discussed that's no excuse for booing Mark or any other player but given the reaction over the ST sometimes wonder what side most are on anyway!

I've said for a while i think that's Hird's natural position. Break up play and distribute the ball. He can also slot back in to the centre of defence, particularly away from home if we go a goal up and want to switch to 5 at the back.

Not the biggest of centre halves and a little hesitant, I'd love to see him alongside Stock but doubt it will ever happen.

By the way, loved how he went for a 50/50 tackle without even thinking about it. Very rare you see that from many / any of our players these days.

The Wilson debate will run and run, but we should not boo our own players.
A quick viewing of the MOM table shows Wilson ahead of Hayter and Hird (shall we boo them???) and only just behind Sulli, Chambo and Copps (shall we boo them too???).

You're like a broken record Norfolk!  :silly:
Let's see how many un-related threads you post in regarding disgruntled supporters and season ticket prices?

p.s. it doesn't take much for you to question our fans allegiance, does it?
