I find it crazy , you can go and get a phone from the shops for say £35 per month and get a free phone and be happy with all its free mins etc etc but then rovers mobile site gives you the same and a free season ticket and still a moan . Yes if you dont need a new phone then fair enough but to yet again be negative about something that is again another thing that the club wanted to do to help especially in these times. People are changing their mobiles all the time so to get nothing with it or a free rovers season ticket is not a bad offer you know surely even in your book

Some of the contracts on your site, I have seen at half the price elsewhere. And over a 24 month contract its not really value is it?

But that has nothing to do with this thread.

So taking out an over priced mobile phone contract is the way forward?

I'll introduce a new word for you - Positive.  You could be getting something for free and you'd still probably moan, try being positive for a change.  If it's not the airport closing, Rovers getting relegated, having no season ticket holders it's overpriced phones, are you ever happy?

Its being realistic not negative. A big difference.

I've experienced redundancy, heart break, the death of a loved one, illness, relegation, and substantial football accumulators being ruined by controversial last minute penalties by an away team at Old Trafford...

but none of them can compare to the sheer misery of having to read a post by MrFrost.

Indeed.

The glass is not only half empty, it undoubtedly contains a heady mix of broken glass and anthrax.

ROFLMAO!

I'll have a pint of that having wasted 2 hours on Stuart Pearce's industrial football.  I hope Mr Carroll plays as badly in a few weeks time... ;-)

Anyway if any agreement is reached on extending the deadline/deposits etc, it needs publicising NOT just on here and DROS thats presuming letters ever turn up to the fans with no internet access

I am quite surprised on how relaxed Gartom has took this, the club AND john Ryan have had a total disregard for anything he has said. The ideas he put forward last year obviousley caused a stir and thats why he wasnt even involved in the process.Apoligiseing is a very easy way out after the event but his input was not required and to be honest Mr Ryan  obiousley is not interested one iota in the deposit scheme as that was on the table last year..Is anyone actually trying to tell me that over the many meetings that this course of action was decided not once didnt someone say \"what about the vsc\".Gartom and the vsc were deliberetley left out.
The VSC has been made to look a irrelevent after thought by the club, who now see it as a vehicle to push forward the next new marketing idea wether it be lottery or the building society account.Any ideas the vsc has itself are frankly unwanted.
I find it interesting that in Gartoms update he goes on about the bloody building society account, nothing to do with helping the season ticket issue, however to be fair id bet a few quid that JR soon steered him off the s/t debate and encouraged him to mention it again.
I will obviousley get the abuse from some members but the above is exactley why i didnt renew my membership, the club think they have outgrown it...
Whilst when it comes to the team my glass will always be full , when it comes to how this club is run off the field my glass is empty. From marketing through to dros and pr this club always has been a shambles...

It seems to me to be a bit of panic management at best. Why were we not told of these plans at the beginning of the season? Everyone can then prepare for what was about to happen!

JR wants more people through the turnstiles and then the Club put the prices up! Just how does he think that is going to get more people to come to matches? If he thinks that, by increasing prices, he is going to attract more supporters then he must be dafter than I look!

RE Wing Commander comments.....I am anything but relaxed mate! I had a real moan session with JR, told him I felt badly let down, but then asked how we were going to progress this / dig ourselves out of the hole....I am still plugging for the 3 month deposit scheme - and even more now given that letters still have nt gone out - as far as I'm aware??
Its poor planning, I've told em so and want them to sort it.
The Leeds B.Soc was an afterthought from me - we ought to encourage folk to save....but its low priority at the mo. I'm still unhappy!...but want to get something sorted. Watch this space....
Cheers, Gareth

gartom, its good to see you are on the case, and I really hope the early bird deadline is extended and that we can communicate with all our current season ticket holders what is going on.

Which reminds me bobjim....we need to think about the VSC version of 'carrier pigeon' seeing as our web hosting is not easily adapted to mass VSC email messages.....any thoughts ?

He regrets the March deadline, but he needs to know ASAP what the ST sales will be and what the budgets will look like for next year.

Where there`s a will, there`s a way.

A £100-£150 non refundable deposit will give him an idea on what the budgets will look like for next year, thus giving people time to find the rest until say the end of May. People are not going to kiss goodbye to £100-£150 are they. It`s a difficult economic climate we are in here, surely a compromise can be reached for the good of the club and it`s supporters, it`s clearly not the price increase thats the problem, so lets see some movement DRFC!

it clearly is a price problem because afew of you on here say it isnt doesnt mean you speak for everyone lets just look at next seasons gates i hope to god im wrong

Well the poll we are running suggests otherwise - its mainly the time issue. I think most folk appreciate a price rise is needed to help JR & the board do things for next season.
Lets see what happens today after my rant n rave.....

the poll you are running is only the opinion of 338 die hard supporters who would support the rovers
no matter what the cost and there is nothing wrong with that but many others on low income may well
have a different view i for one will have to give it a lot of thought as i have just taken early
retirement on a very low income i am not one of them who spits his dummy out as i have been watching the lads since 1956 they were in this div then by the way congratulations on extended dead line you have done us proud

But, JB, while I agree the poll is 'only 338 supporters' it is solid evidence. There is no evidence at all for your point of view - unless you believe your opinion is evidence of course? Perhaps you'd care to run a wider opinion gathering survey?

I think what he's trying to say is that whilst 338 supporters on here voted for a stay of execution on the early bird. That decsion only helps some and not all supporters. To help grow the support wouldn't it be better have means in place for all variety of supporters. People in difficulty financially, that cant get loans etc, but may be able to get it together before august. If a set price across the board or other payment options, surely it would increase the fan base, no?

Just so you know, John looked at a finance package thru Premium finance. Unfortunately, they back out at the last minute - they had a load of defaults thru other football clubs - so the rovers had no where to go on this in the short time frame. I have asked them to look at Zebra finance - but again, its a relatively high price - at 19.9%.
Rovers are also looking at a DD scheme - but again the finance / admin side was nt ready. I have nt finished with our marketing team on the idea of a long term purchase to help folks - but these systems will take time - which is a pity as we talked about it last season too...
We've won one battle, now we can win plan a strategy for the next..... Hope you understand, Cheers

The ability to use an internet forum hardly makes you a die hard supporter does it. Even my mother(pensionable age) has her own computer for going on the web.

Some positive HAVE come out of this.

1-Fans now know of the (hoped for?) ambitions of JR and the board with regards to next season.
2-At least JR has listened and compromised on the early bird timescales.
