Play offs
« on March 14, 2010, 01:56:00 pm by Filo »
I heard one Rovers caller on praise or grumble last night saying he doesn`t want us to get to the play offs. Well we are in reaching distance now and if you can reach it,grab it I say! the financial implications are too great to ignore! If you don`t aspire to improve you may as well pack it in! lets carry on living the dream!

A win on Tuesday and then beat a poor Sheff Utd team then we are right in there with a great chance.

I dont think we should fear anyone at the moment, not even Newcastle.

Here`s a scenario for you.

Sheffield United fail to get to the play offs and Blackwell gets the boot, thus opening the door for Billy at Sheff utd, meawhile Rovers get promoted via the play offs and Billy is offered the chance of premiership football with the Rovers, which will he choose, his beloved Sheff Utd or premiership football with the pub team?  ;)

If Billy has any ambition, which Im sure he has, he'd choose us - no question.

Im not so sure its only Blackwell stopping him being a success at Sheff Utd anyway - more often than not the Utd fans havent given him a fair crack of the whip either.

He knows he is loved here - whether he scores or not, and that goes a long way to making a player happy.

P.S. I heard said caller on 'Praise or Grumble' - What a Tosser!

I firmly believe he will be with us next season.I think we will finish higher than sheff utd and even though he supports sheff utd, he knows he is wanted and will succeed at this club.In January Leeds and Barnsley were interested. Id be suprised if they came calling again but if they did I dont see him going to the dingles and leeds will be playing league 1 football.

Which in my mind results in a permanent move to the keepmoat.

BILLY IS A ROVER ;)

The question is what will the palyers be thinking ? They probably do look at the league table and they will know we are vitually safe.

There are two choices, toss it off for the rest of the season or, let the shackles off and go for it !

I think I know which one they will chose. A win on Tuesday (not a foregone conclusion) will set us up nicely for the two back to back, much awaiting clashes. The players will be right up for it and even if we don't win either, we're still set up for a grandstand finish to the season.

Just to get in to 6th place, even if briefly would be a fantastic acheievement and, if we could hold that position come May, the Rovers/media bandwaggon, will take off.

You can bet the least fussed about it all with be SOD and he will just go about setting the team up to win a football match.

Let the results take care of the league table. If we end up in the play-offs, I'm afraid you'll just have to suffer the consequences, win or lose !

personally i can see it being the second one, purely because even though we are talking about the season on the whole, on a game by game basis rovers usually seem to do the following... if the game is scrappy and cagey, we seem to play at half throttle, trying not to concede. however, in matches where we go 2-0 up (a la QPR)....everything then turns on, people take chances, the passing game clicks, as the players become more relaxed and as good as know the points are in the bag. thats just my observation anyway, and for that reason, i think results might even get better when we are mathematically safe.
