Having parked in the official car parks tonight due to myother halfs health reasons I can safely say I will never blame anyone who parks in there leaving early. It took me 15 minutes longer to get home from Peterborough last week (that includes a 15 minute walk to the station!!) The road layout around the km is a joke.

We didn't get home till 11pm and only had 8 miles to travel. It was worse last night than on a Saturday, when there's shopping traffic as well to contend with. I don't what the answer is to the traffic problem, but it's time the experts got down to sorting it, after all, they've known how bad it is for 3 years now. When we were at Belle Vue, we parked across the road and were well on the way home after just 5 minutes.

Perfectly simple what happened last night. The Plod held up the traffic to get the Newcastle coaches away. In doing so, the traffic backed up onto both roundabouts on White Rose Way and gridlocked. I was stuck right outside the stadium for 50 minutes while two coppers on horses and one on a bike sat there staring catatonically into space. Would have taken 5 minutes and the tiniest bit of initiative for them to have had a quick word with the waiting motorists or to try to prevent the gridlock from worsening by stopping drivers inching into positions where they blocked up other entrances. But no. It was easier for them to sit there mentally totting up the overtime that we were all paying them.

Luckily I got away before the supporters coaches left last night (didn't leave before final whistle though). Maybe it's due to my secret parking location that I can get onto and off the yorkshire outlet roundabout in record time, but I'm not telling y'all where I park!

I never left my seat until the final whistle, yet I was back home in Stainy at 10-15, i must have a good parking spot as well, but i`m not telling anyone either

I hope they did that just to piss you off.

It's always gridlocked outside the ground, simply because half of the f**king knuckle-draggers that drive have no idea which lane to position themselves in for the roundabout leading off down towards b&q. That's the one that caused tha problems. Coppers or not.

I know what you mean about the B&Q roundabout. Having said that, I never leave before the final whistle, and always park in the same place. I've never seen the traffic as badly gridlocked as last night. And the B&Q argument doesn't explain why the traffic was stationary for a hour going the other way, up towards Carr House Road. The fact that the coppers blocked off Stadium Way for 20 minutes to get the Newcastle coaches out and away does explain why the traffic backed up round past the Tesco depot and onto the roundabout at the top end of White Rose Way.

As I said, a bit of initiave from the Plod could have eased the gridlock. Unfortunately, they see their role as being purely to avert some hypothetical apocalyptic riot. Football fans, as ever, are treated as a sociopathic problem to be dealt with, rather than half-decent members of society who deserve a service and a bit of respect. Who gives a f**k if 5,000 local Council Tax payers were unnecessarily inconvenienced, as long as we got 5 Newcastle coaches away according to schedule before their fans ripped up Donny's babbies with their bare teeth, eh?

I left bang on 85 minutes and got home to Manchester at quarter to eleven.  Leaving five minutes early in a game that we never looked like getting anything from saved me nearly an hour if I'd have stayed till after the final whistle.

You can bleat all you want about people leaving early, but for exiles it's the only way to make night games even half accessible especially if you're up for work at 5.30 the next morning!

road planning certainly is a joke
they should make it all one way on match evenings after the match and open both sides of the road to oneway traffic
making every route accessible it being a circular route

I left at full time and was back in Bradford for 11 o'clock. I park a 5 minute walk away and never go before the final whistle. The only time that I parked near the stadium I was 30 odd minutes getting out of the car park, I said never again.

I noticed on Saturday that the police were holding the traffic up at Yorkshire Outlet roundabout to let the coaches out - and the chaos this caused. So I left my seat at the back of the south stand immediately the added time board went up, stood and watched the end of the game from in the gangway exit and was away the minute the ref blew, rather than clap the players off as I usually do. Back to the car in 5 minutes, away and off to the M18 and by 10.30 was probably heading south on M1 towards Nottingham. Got through roadworks on M1, M42 and M5 and was home at 1.45am.

Me and my Dad park on St Wilfreds road and make the 20 minute walk to the KMS, we were back at the car for 22.10 back in Tickhill at 22.30 and then I was back in Newark by 22.55. All that and we left a good 5 minutues after the final whistle.

Much of the traffic problems, on matchdays on for those like me who work around White Rose Way, would be eased if a roundabout was put in at the Junation of Carriage Drive and White Rose Way (Porcelanosa).

This would give traffic the option of taking a right toward the town centre rather than all piling left to the link roard roundabout.

Traffic is always light on the way in to town by comparison.

I leave my seat when the board goes up,wait at the exit till the final whistle goes then leggit to my car.
Usually get straight away with this tactic and was home in Wigan by 11.15pm last night without missing any action.
Waiting another 5mins in my seat will put an hour on an already long journey so I totally understand why some people leave early.

Why not relieve the good old days and park at Old Belle Vue.

It`s a 10 minute round trip and straight onto Bawtry Road.......obviously only any good if you want to be onto Bawtry Road.

By the way, it`s nice to walk past the old girl every week and imagine what it would be like to be playing the fixture there.

The roads around Doncaster are not built for around 10,000 vehicles to be there at once. They are built for everyday purpose/use, and that does not mean 10,000 odd vehicles at every minute of the day.
If they did and to please most, they would have a 10 lane either side...Bawtry Rd, York Rd, Thorne Rd and all through/round town centre. Anybody fancy that?

I feel for the shift workers around the Keemoat, esp Tesco's warehouse. It must be a nightmare for them after a days work and then coming out to that.

Why not:

leave early.
go to one of the many convenient refreshment/eating outlets nearby until clear.
be realistic, tolerate it and except it ie it's a large public event, where there will be lot's people and vehicles. What the chuff do you expect?

I have to drop my brother off in Balby and the druive back to Bradford and drop my grand daughter and her mate off before I get home. This takes about an hour and a quarter. I wouldn't fancy being gridlocked for an hour. On a mid-week game I've been up since 5.30 and get home for 11.15, then up 5.30 next morning. It's a bit of a ball ache for exiles even if you get away on time.
Funny the drive always seems longer when you lose.

A drop off in Arksey and then up to York before heading home, managed to get there for 12.35am. Thanks S Yorks police! Why the whole of Donny has to be gridlocked to move half a dozen buses I will never know, they are in no more danger than the hundreds of cars from Newcastle/Sheffield or wherever. Morons.

If the away coaches were parked somewhere near the Harley Davidson place, they would be able to go around one roundabout and straight onto the motorway, it`s not a far walk for the way fans, no futhur than the walk you have at Hillsborough when they park the coaches down that road behind Mcdonalds/KFC, or whatever it is at the bottom of Leppings lane
