For fans who were going to barnsley metrodome sat
« on March 24, 2010, 09:47:22 pm by retford rover »
I have been asked by Brian Evans Rovers Football liason officer  and David hartley from Barnsley, that due to the Barnsley metrodome having another function on this Saturday, and they know  alot of Rovers fans make use of the place, ther will be restictions on the number of fans allowed in on Saturday and only limited refresments facilities available, and anybody wanting a drink do so in Doncaster first, they also wish us a safe and enjoyable time.....
for more read the rovers official site............

One of te funniest pre-match experiences of recent seasons was in the Metrodome. A few of us were having a jar in the bar that looks out over the pool and heard some young Rovers fans egging their mate on; you know the \"go on then\", \"I bet he daren't\" etc...

Five minutes later, clad in nowt but a pair of white boxer shorts, said lad appears on the end of the top diving board and chucks himself into the water below. I don't know/can't remember who he was - it may have been one of the LSBA lads but he had a set of sturdy b*llocks on him.

Which was clear for all to see when he got out of the water in those sopping white undercrackers!

Considering the only trouble I witnessed last season was the service bus windows being put through on the way into Barnsley, then the brains trust at South Yorkshire Police failing to realise the bus station post-match would be a flashpoint, I'll not be putting a lot of faith in Police 'advice'.

So, correct me if I'm interpreting the message wrong but Rovers fans will not be welcome in Barnsley town centre before the game? Four of us were planning a bit of an all dayer with some Barnsley fans from work, just as we did in Donny, without even the threat of trouble. If I'd have known this was SY Police's stance this morning I wouldn't have bothered getting a ticket.

Just go without shirts on, meet your Barnsley mates and nobody will be any wiser.

The lack of the extra finger will be a dead give away, unless you can get hold of some 6 fingered gloves and just pack out the extra finger

recall when donny were playing that away game in div3 towrads end of season rovers went up as champs.

torquay was billed as the offical promotion party weekend so loads of rovers fans booked into hotels, bed and break for the weekend.

quite a few of the ddr were booked into various hotels/bed and break in torquay
it self.

it seems donny police went through a few booking registers of hotels etc etc looking for ddr lads names,to which they then told the hotels/bed and breakfast gaffs to cancell said bookings

to which few days before the weekend lads were getting letters back from booked
accomadtion saying they had to cancell it on police addvice.

where there is a will there is a way,so lads got alternative accomadtion down the road in paighton, just meant a taxi rides into and out of torquay.

Yeah, that was pretty much our plan anyway. I just think its a sad state of affairs that two sets of fans can't socialise together before a game without the potential of some mindless idiots to cause bother to facilitate a knee jerk reaction from the police. Deal with the problem in the first place, don't infringe on innocent folks liberty as a solution.

We normally call in at the East Dene WMC, and its usually about 50/50 Barnsley and Rovers fans, all having a good craic before the game.  We'll be there on Satdi.

all they are saying is that fans who normally go for a drink in barnsley Metrodome, they cannot accomodate as many as normal due to another event going on at the Metrodome...
simples.....
