car valuation
« on April 07, 2010, 06:43:35 am by StocktonRover »
Help,
is there anyone out there in the motor retail world who can help me.

I have just been informed that my car has been declared a total loss following an accident. Apparantly I will be contacted very shortly by the insurance company to make me an offer for settlement.

This is where I am seeking help from anyone in the trade, obviously I want to maximise what I get back from the insurance so that I can rerp-lace the car, so can anyone give me a valuation and / or any advice on how I can maximise my offer.

The car in question was an 08 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 cdti (150bhp) Design - it was bought from and maintained by main dealer throughout and was in immaculate condition inside and out.
The mileage is higher than average at 53000.

I have had a look in the parker guide but am seeking as much info as possible before I hear from the insurance - perhaps a guide from the Glasses guide?.

Cheers in anticipation

Les

Stick all the details into WeBuyAnyCar.com.  Dont tell them its a write off though!

They will email you a valuation.  Might not be top dollar, but at least you will have an idea what minimum is fair.

Just bought a new house and was struggling to get the deposit together was contimplating selling the car at one point so i went on Webuanycar.com and was amazed to see my car had only dropped £300 in a year from when i bought it and id put over 25k miles on!!!.

I didnt sell it, but i m actually thinking of using them in the future

Whatcar have a good free valuation tool if you need one, you are best at looking at cars on autotrader that are priced above the valuations you get, get 3/4 adverts that are quite local post them to the insurance company and tell them like for like this is what you have to pay. It worked for me a good 7 years ago, not sure if the insurance companies use different methods these days, but its worth a shot.

The thing with webuyanycar is it is an estimate, designed to get you to go in as you think it's a really good deal, then they actually offer you loads less. I sold a car to them a couple of years back, the online thing said £2750, when I took it in they offered me £2000 on the basis it had a crack in the windscreen. When I pointed out I could get this replaced for 70 quid on my insurance and bring it back they still only offered me 2250. I complained to the manager that it was a complete joke and in the end I got £2500, which I was happy with. Just be aware when using them that they are affiliated with Carcraft so they are bound to try and screw you out of money!!
