Gillett
« on May 07, 2010, 11:26:40 am by Drover »
Anyone heard anything about him lately?I Believe his contract is up this summer and rumour was Southampton threw out the dummy when we would'nt lower our valuation of Stocky so they took their Gillett back.Does that mean he maybe available for free when his contract ends which is usually?1st june 1st july? With all the talk of possible targets, this is one I would love to see us sign, unlike Sharp n shacks their is no transfer fee and unlike some of the other rumoured transfer targets has experience at this level, infact he was more than comfortable with Rovers at this level.

I thought the fee agreed was a nominal one and the stumbling block was Gilletts wage demands. If he drops those a bit then I would go down and bring him back myself. I thought he was excellent. In fact if we can get Shackell, Gillett and Sharp as the backbone SOD refers to I would be delighted, and I only hope our directors give SOD the resources he needs to make this happen, even if it means sacrificing Stock.

I thought there were problems with Southampton's valuation and Gilletts demands.

I guess this could be remedied now he is out of contract as there won't be any fee involved.  Although I read a while back that Roy Keane was quite erm... keen.

Definately a candidate, for me, however I would have liked someone with a bit more stature. That said, he certainly did the 'dirty work' in midfield and was an excellent outlet for the back 4. Not a 'must have', but I'd definately be happy if he signed.
