The price for promotion?????
« on May 23, 2010, 09:36:10 am by duggiesmyhero »
700k the cost of Blackpools squad and Charlie Adam cost 500k of it. Proves the promised land can be reached without busting the bank ala forest, cardiff, liecester(6m loss after admin 2 years ago, how can that be allwed to happen???)Just think we need a couple more quality signings and who knows maybe next season can be the year dreams do come true.

Exactly right.  The thing that pleased me most about yesterdays game was that both teams tried to win it by playing good football, but the difference in what the squads cost was phenomenal.

Blackpool's squad actually cost about £1.6 million in transfer fees. Still one of the lowest in the league though and it is a great achievement for them to get promoted.

I bet their wage bill was £5-6 million. I bet they were losing money hand over fist. Their finances would have been stretch to the limit, so it was hardly a small risk they took.

It's brilliant what they have achieved, but it is a fairytale, and I ain't going to get carried away because it hardly ever happens for small clubs like us.

We've already had our fairytale.:scarf:

I can remember reading that their wage bill was around the £5 million mark season before the one that's just gone?

And I am shocked if they aren't/weren't in debt?

GL to them anyway, and I hope they establish themselves at that level.

Their board is worth over £400m so I guess they cover the losses like our directors do.

They also only pay their players £90 a week in close season. Was mentioned on tv that it is written into contracts and players will not be signed if they dont sign up to that. Said on radio today that they are one of the few clubs without any debt even before yesterdays win although not sure how that is worked out.
