The majority of the England side don't have the right attitude e.g. Terry, Cole but that doesn't stop them.

I don't particularly like him, but I think he'll be better than Downing.

In Fabio we trust, or at least I do.

Strange one Walcott, fascinating and frustrating in equal measure. He's only 21 and potentially has another 3 world cups in him after this one. He can also play up front and whilst I have slight concerns (I wouldn't start him but I know a man who would) he's going to go to South Africa.

Walcott was clean through early in the game and chose to square to a player with 2 defenders on him.  The lad has no confidence in himself.

It's not going forward we need to worry about! Our defense throughout Capello's time as manager has been dreadful!! We are able to score for fun, but when was the last time we did not concede a goal? Or look comfortable throughtout a game?

14th October when we beat Belarus 3-0  

Capello comes from Italy where they're typically defensive yet he encourages Cole and Johnson to support the wingers (who don't track back!)

Could be better off with a back three of King, Terry and Ferdinand, Cole and Johnson as wing backs, Gerrard, Lampard and Barry (fingers crossed) as a middle three and someone to partner Wazza.

PS. Think the #1 shirt is Green's to lose now.

I'm getting fed up with Ferdinand ponsing about at the back, ambling around trying to look good and contributing zip.

Ledley King was stretched all over the place in the first half and when Carragher came on in second King looked a better player and the defence coped better.

Point being Ferdinand and Terry are not up to it any more. Attitudes stink.

I argue for taking Walcott all the time at work but everyone thinks I'm crackers! Personally, I would stick him on the bench and give him the last 15 minutes with the brief to scare the shite out of the opposition defenders with his pace and create space for our front man/men. The lad is capable as we saw against Croatia away, and one performance like that in South Africa would be just the tonic he needs. He will also be as fresh as a daisy since he's played comparatively no football this season with his injuries.

He's a defo for me. As is Adam Johnson.

Did not Lennon have the last 15 and looked far more menacing than Walcott also SWP can do the same, scores goals in an England shirt and does track back. I would take Johnson purely because he is left footed and would give balance/extra dimension.

I too would take Lennon over Walcott. For me Theo seems to be learning nothing at Arsenal. Its not very often I agree with something Andy Townsend says but when Walcott messed up that opening last night he implied Walcott doesn't quite have the footballing brain he should have - very surprising when you consider where he plays his football. I know his touch and acceleration is incredible but once the defence force him to use the ball it doesnt quite seem to come off.

Quite a few did themselves no favours last night. Baines was hopeless, a definate no. Carrick did nothing, likewise his replacement Huddlestone but the biggest surprise for me was Milner. £20m+, no thanks, looked completely out of his depth in his supposedly best position of central midfield.

Having said that I'd still take him for his versatility along with Carragher and I'd definately take Adam Johnson to give us a different option on the left. Players to miss out IMHO:

Warnock
Dawson
Carrick
Wright-Phillips
Bent

I think he will take one of Baines/Warnock as otehrwise we have no natural backup for Ashely Cole.

Huddlestone/Carrick will depend on Barry's fitness I guess.

This means Scott Parker gets in? For me Id rather see Huddlestone, SWP, Carrick or Bent than Scott Parker.

If you refer to the home game all i recall him doing was rip us to shreds and show off a bit about being too good for us, other than the fact he was playing against us rather than for us i didn't see a lot wrong with that.

My issue with Johnson is having seen a few recent big City games (Liverpool h, United h, Arsenal a, Spurs h) he's done absolutely nothing in any of them and he looks to enjoy taking the p!ss out of bad teams but doesn't necessarily turn up for the big games. That said he'd be in my squad on talent alone, the display down here was one of the finest ive ever seen in the flesh and the goal away at Sunderland for City was world class.

I'd definitely take Adam Johnson, because not only does he have the pace and trickery, but he has an element of intelligence to his game that Walcott doesn't. If Walcott didn't have the pace that he does, he'd be nowhere near the Premier League, let alone the England setup - he just doesn't have the intelligence that needs to be combined with pace to beat defenders, and put in a quality final ball. Johnson has it all for me, even if he has just burst on to the scene. He has pace, he has the trickery to beat defenders, and has the intelligence and awareness to deliver a good crosses consistently.

I'd take Johnson, Lennon and Wright-Phillips to play on the wings. Milner as a utility midfielder, and I'd leave Walcott at home!

What about Joe Cole? He's not getting a mention, I rate cole, he's a good player.
For the wings I'd take J Cole, Lennon, Walcott, and Johnson.
I'd defo take milner as well, he would play instead of Barry when injured.
