RIP Goose
« on May 29, 2010, 08:33:10 am by CusworthRovers »
It is with great regret that I inform all that the Sandall Park Goose that's been swimming round with fishing line and a float attached to it has sadly passed away.
The goose had captured the nations hearts with several failed attempts to capture it and put things right. It was eventually captured early this week but RSPCA vets were unable to make things right and sadly the goose was put to sleep.

The goose leaves behind 6 goslings.

Kind of puts everything into perspective really

Lets hope the surviving goose doesn't hook up with a totally unsuitable goose as a replacement parent.....I would hate to see six infants go off the rails due to a bad step parent...............

Seriously tho, the number of wild creature that suffer needlessly because of mans carelessness with plastics, fishing lines ect is dreadful.as a species we are so casually destructive.  :(  poor thing.

I saw the remaining one the other day. It looked very lonely. It was just having a Gander around.

A few years ago I saw a Goose at Sandall park with a condition that caused its beak to fall off into the water.
I rang the RSPCA to attend and treat the bird, although I was worried about who would be expected to pick up the bill.
