Do we assume no news is good news?

DROS Update -
All future contract/transfer negotiations to be handled in Argos as there are those little crappy pens near the catalogues that can be used. Players will no longer have squad numbers - they will be item numbers instead. Mark Wilson is now 713/5301.

This way the club also gain revenue through extra shirt printing.

To be fair to DROS, they always state they will only report on facts and not speculation.

They have told us which players have been released and which players have extended their contracts.

.........erm no they haven't CR. They have only told us Locky, Woods and Wilson have signed.

Why don't they make a statement on Oster, who is now one of the stars of the club. Has he signed, Has he refused, Are negotiations ongoing????? Just 2 minutes on the phone to whoever and then 5-10mins on the keyboard. Come on DROS, you can do it, I know you can. It's Tuesday now, Monday blues has surely gone.

Why not clear the confusion over the 2 youngsters. Have they both been released?? Quick 2 minute phonecall and another 5 mins on the keyboard.

Why not clear the confusion over players who are at the end of their contracts or who has what left. Quick 2 mins on the phone and 5mins on the keyboard

Why not make a statement saying there will be signings, we are close to two, we are still hoping for Billy etc etc

And finally, where was my mate DROS when every media outlet was suggesting Sean was going to Burnley. It was fact that they had shown an interest. It was fact that he had an interview there......where were you DROS, where were you my little cup cake

Just to add my two penny worth.....
The Oster situation is still not finalised - a few things still to be resolved I'm told - so we have to be patient.....
As to Kennedy - well with JR and SOD both away at the moment - I dont have any news - so we must assume that, again, negotiations are still on-going .....
If I hear anything, I will let you know - but at the moment nothing else to add....Sorry !
Cheers, Gareth

Just to update my own post on the youngsters.

Having watched the Martin Woods interview, he spoke of some of the lads being in for a spell of training now and in the background training was Robbie Clark.

Never seen if he was offered a deal. All the players released have now been taken off the squad list. Clark is still there

Wasn't it a month by month, for 6 months total?

That's the trouble. Nothing has been public/official about players being kept on or signed ie this lad, Oster, Hayts for example. When the released players were posted on DROS Clark wasn't one of them. However, The Free Press definitely stated he had been released. Now, clearly one would believe DROS.

Although this month by month, week by week contract is all known by people in the know and posted on here. DROS has never stated the current position with Clark

I'm sure I read in the Free Press that Clarke was offered a 6 month \"non-contract\" deal.

I'm not sure mate. I thought I saw it originally, that both had been released. Not sure if further editions have said different. It's over 4 weeks ago now.

One thing that is true, is that it has not appeared on DROS. One would think/expect that a Football Clubs Website be very much dictated/dominated by news about the actual playing staff.

When a Football Clubs player is released, signed on, transferred, injured, in the news, or whatever, then it is massive news for that said clubs fans. That fan of that club would expect to read events on players of that club on that clubs official website. Every clubs website seems to go under the banner of 'First for breaking news' or 'For all the latest on insert name of club'. I'm not sure if our web people or media or whoever is responsible, actually think we care about what is happening with our players. I think if that is the case, then they have no idea about the good fans of DRFC and shouldn't be in the job. If they're not fans then fine, but unfortunately there's chuffin loads of us out here who are and breath this club, and more unfortunately, is that they are paid to service the fans of this club.

Cheers Gareth. We are aware of the information gap between the official site and the general media and, we would not expect DROS to report on speculation.

However, isn't there a duty to keep fans reasonably informed ?

What would be wrong with a weekly update on DROS, even if it's just to say...Contract negotiations with X Y Z are still ongoing and we will inform you of any developments.

JR and SOD are on holiday until X date, so there will not be anything to report until their return.

I'll put the suggestion in to Charlie Swallow in his role as Customer Services Manager.

When DO SOD/JR get back ?
