It was been a gas explosion at some old folks flats on the High Street at about 7 this morning. The front has been ripped out and 3 people have been injured and 1 is unaccounted 4. Looks like the road could be closed off for most of the day.

Here you go....

http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s1i76660

\"Three people have been taken to hospital with injuries resulting from a huge gas explosion. There are around 20 ground floor flats affected in Bentley, North Yorkshire.

All three emergency services are still on the scene, and are assessing the structural integrity of the complex which was built to house elderly people.

Chief Fire Officer Sinjun Hare has been investigating the cause of the explosion which has been linked to a special offer at the local Supermarket.

Initial reports show that the blast was due to an excessive build up of methane within the premises; it is known that the local Morrisons currently have a four pack of Branston beans for 99p, and a buy get one free on own make tinned Prunes.

When sifting through the wreckage Officer Hare has reported that many empty tins associated with these products had been found in multiple flats throughout the complex. Early conclusions indicate that following the consumption of the special offers there had been an inevitable increase in flatulence levels to a critical level within the complex.

It is thought the explosion was triggered by a visitor to a ground floor flat; Mr Ivor Windybottom is normally visited by his sister at around the time of the explosion who, it is believed, entered the flats on her electric scooter.

Officer Hare stated that the force of the blast could only be imagined; one local resident had reported hearing breaking glass; he rushed down his garden to find a set of false teeth had entered his greenhouse through a roof pane. Other residents have reported a near miss with a flying walking stick, and a cat impaled on a Zimmer frame leg. \"

Plenty of Police stood about, sat laughing and joking coining in the overtime, not one of them directing the total gridlocked traffic around the Jossey Lane, Cook St, New St junction. Absolute joke.

Dont even get me started with the lack of diversion signs, absolute no warning of the situation on the approach to the Askern Rd / High St Roundabout/ junction, or the additional confusion caused by the road works/ badly set up Traffic lights at the Cook St / Askern Rd junction.

Pretty much a farce all round.

Par for the course then as far as Britain's finest are concerned.

Cracking example down here last week. Unexplained masses of the boys in blue, a years production of Transit vans decked out in various shades of cop and roads closed all over everywhere. But diversion signs? Don't be silly. Grid lock? Bit of a laff that innit? work? For goodness sake! This IS overtime y'know.

It can't have been anything too serious. Nowt on the local news or in the press. yet there they all were: hundreds of the buggers - all stood around, picking their noses, watching the cars not go by.

Yep. Makes you sick. They must have been rubbing their hands with glee this morning Sunday morning, sat in cars blocking the roads off, (would not signs and cones suffice?), counting their hard earned. No wonder there were still six Police Cars there, and I counted 16 Officers, at 13:30 - long after the incident was under control.

Shame they werent so pro actve when our lasses Nan was mugged in broad daylight, or when her dads car was broken into and all they could offer him was a 'crime reference number'.

As a side issue, Ive always loved this.....

Seriously mate, that's a funny clip, but I think the police were just responding to a gas explosion today.
