fan study 'the mexican wave'
« on June 15, 2010, 06:05:12 pm by not on facebook »
so your at the world cup sat in the stands watching two 2bob teams,so it could well be england.

to your very far right you notice the starting of the 'mexican wave' and is picking up pace all the time and in full flow by time it's on the home straight towards your section....

.....do you....

a.....sit there open mouth nearly wetting yer pants on anticpation as it heads towards you, then at the correct moment in time leap up out of yer seat fling your arms upto the skys
with a massive 'ROAR' then flop back into yer seat following the wave all way round the ground and like a teenage boy with
two cocks repeat again and again

b.....just sit thinking 'oh fcuk it' and half heartly go with the flow whilst at the same time feal like a tit somewhat

c.....you clock the begining of the wave on otherside of ground and say to yer sen 'for fcuk sake' to which you then batton down all the hatches by sitting on yer hands or grasping the bottom underneath of yer seat with both hands and just hold on for  as the malarky passes you by

d.....as soon as you notice the mexican wave heading in your direction you get up out of yer seat, walk down the isle onto gangway then up/down to nearest exit and into the bar underneath the stands, then you get a ale and watch the horror in the stands unfold via monitors on concourse.
returning when its all back to normall in the stadium.

the worst thing ever brought into a football stadium is the
'mexican wave'

so my answer would be c or d

So long as its not bigger than 5ft, and the sharks are lunching elsewhere, I'd ride it :silly:

A - once or twice is fun!

anything greater than two times = C (pain in the arse)!

Anyone who EVER participates in a Mexican Wave at a football match should have their testicles/ovaries removed to prevent them from propagating their genes.

It actually started at American College Football matches, where it has a reasonable raison d'etre as a way of keeping fans entertained in the interminable gaps between the fleeting seconds of action. But it should never come anywhere within a hundred miles of a proper football match. It's the fans' way of saying, \"We don't really understand what this football lark is all about so we're going to collectively act like a bunch of bell-ends.\"

So. I case I didn't make myself clear, that'll be e) Run up and down the aisle screaming \"f**k off out of this stadium you pathetic waste of two square metres of skin,\" while punching every third person unconscious.

I would have agreed totaly with that until last week and those vuvuzelas, so the worst thing thing at a football match would be doing a mexican wave whilst blowing a vuvuzela.
On the subject of mexican waves, went to Paris to watch England a few years back and the French have added to the wave experiance by waving there hands and making a ooooh noise in anticipation as the wave heads towards them. I was sat in the French end and you could tell the English in there a mile off, as they were the ones not doing the mexican wave

I know football is about angst, luv!   :)

Baseball and American football is about something to do when it's boring.  You're right r/t football though, because you must watch the action on the pitch and you'd be in big trouble if you blocked someone's view of it while doing the wave!

Yep have to agree with that one BB, anyone doing that chant should have a vuvuzela shoved up their arse sideways and be forced to do a Mexican Wave .

Yes I remember it well.......Bramall Lane Last season...I looked round wondering where the smell was coming from,  and saw this strange looking youth, about fourteen years old, and pinpointed the problem to his breath, which had the potency of a thousand Camel farts. \"stand up If you love Rovers\", he screamed at me.........but I stayed seated....where the air was fresher.

Not as bad as \"Driscoll said bounce around the ground\" - especially given that he's never said that anyway.

Wait. I can see the Bristol City fans' anger ready to come out again!

My God that 'song' makes me squirm In my seat.

While were on the subject, do you know what else really makes me embarrassed for our fans? It's that \"we're the right side, we're the left side\" thing they do.

It is so f**king silly.

all this talk of Mexican waves, fun, songs, crowd participation and vuvuzelas.

how i long for peace and quiet, and time and space to reflect alone.

never mind, i will soon be back in the East Stand.

I have to confess, I have started a Mexican Wave off before. At Belle Vue too.

Last home game of the 2003/04 Division Three title season against Carlisle. There was a brief lull where the Pop Side Dozen had run out of songs. What next? Mexican Wave? was a joking suggestion, until one of our group piped up with \"You'll never get a Mexican Wave round here\".

We duly did, and I have to confess that I celebrated seeing the wave finally make the jump from Pop Stand to Rosso End more than I did Gregg Blundell's goal.

Other than that one occasion they are all rubbish mind.

Also on the \"Stand up if you love Rovers\" song, my objection to it is in the word \"love\", its too positive an emotion to reflect the experience. Change that to \"tolerate\" or \"can't seem to shake an almost morbid curiosity in\" and I'll stand more.

Christ I'm bored
