A request for more reasoned debate!

To be fair the moderators have tried to stay out of the loop when it comes to certain posters trading insults on here. But, because of the numerous moderator reports that we keep having to deal with we can't ignore it any more, especially seeing as the insults are now making their way onto the main board.

We will delete all posts that we feel are stoking the ill feeling and request that you all refrain from posting such inflammatory posts. You all know who we mean, and especially those that are constantly stoking the fires.

It needs to stop!

It seems that certain posters have not learned any lessons and despite warnings have continued to annoy and insult fellow posters.

We have issued further warnings today, please pay attention to those warnings or we will be faced with either banning individuals or shutting down the off-topic section.

The job's tough enough without entering into debate about what and how we moderate.

It appears that our request for more reasoned debate has fallen on deaf ears and the amount of moderation reports we keep receiving are still at a level that's unacceptable.

As moderators we are more than tired of your petty politics and arguments about left and right. This has to stop as we just do not have the time available to keep monitoring who is having a dig at who.

We have deleted posts where its quite obvious the post is just designed to attack or poke fun at another individual.

Seriously, we ask you to try and be more sensible from here on in.

Seconded. I enjoy talking politics and current affairs in this forum but the personal sniping between four or five regulars makes reading threads here a somewhat futile exercise. And that goes for people on both sides of the fence at times.

Yup, almost every thread in off topic these days turns into the usual suspects sniping at each other within a few posts. I try to read some of the topics I think might be interesting but a few posts in and it's already devolved - usually on page 1. The whole board has moved on from genuinely interesting political discussion (amongst other things) to a constant battle for who can argue that they're right the loudest. It's awful.

Tbh I prefer if off topic was closed down completely and this became a football only forum.

When I read the forum I do it by unread topics, at the minute 90 percent are in off topic so I read the few in Viking chat or the match posts then mark the off topic as read as it’s just too depressing and effecting my happiness on the forum

You requested ‘more reasoned debate’ over two years ago and I fully support you in this. However things have become very much worse and the off topic section now makes extremely unpleasant reading with all the personal insults, childish and petulant behaviour and vile hatefulness.

Someone mentioned that the hate in some of the debate doesn’t reflect the Club Doncaster values. I agree and strongly feel that it is time for the moderators to act. Perhaps even close down the off topic section.

What I don’t get is we can have (mainly) respectful open and honest debates on the main football pages, but spite and childish vitriol in off topic - from the same posters.!

That and those who only ever seem to post in off topic.  Yes I get involved some days, mainly as I see things which need defending.  But I’d be happy to see that section shut.
