sod for england?
« on July 01, 2010, 02:10:32 am by jmt »
tonight was a real shock to the system, talk sport calling for our manager to be the next england coach.!!!    they spoke about how he can adapt his teams to any situation, and praised his football style. we are not talking a brief mention, they were really banging the sod drum.
w.t.f. do they think they are playing at? can we not ban this station? ba***rds!!

I completely agree with them, he is the most remarkable English coach in the UK, and it would be briliant if he were given the time to build a team. The press in this country would not give him ten minutes before doing the equivalent of the \"Turnip\" thing when he asked stupid people like Rooney to actually start thinking about their game. Can you imagine Rooney or lampard being asked to \"take responsibility\"? They are the most irresponsible, self centred, spoilt brats ever to pull on an England shirt.

I really dont think sod is made out to be the manager of a national side.. He needs to work with his players on a daily basis and slowly mould them into his kind of football. It took a while before you lot warmed up to him remember? As the manager of England the judges will be out from game one

Add Gerrard to that list.

It's too late for likes of the above to be 'educated' the SOD way.

Sean goes for players who are 'intelligent' so he needs to get them young or they need to be bright enough to understand and take on board the philosophy.

If the FA had recognised SODs talent along with Hodgson and Gradi, then we may not be in the mess we are now.

If the FA were bold enough to ditch the above named and start to build afresh then SO'D could be the man. How fortunate the FA have no foresight or guts! :cheer:  :cheer:  :cheer:

SO'D in the backroom, with a figurehead like Venables to motivate the team and handle the press.

If his first gambit as manager was a string of defeats and telling the Sun that England losing to Germany didn't matter he'd be strung up. I shudder to think what O'Driscoll could do with a free pick of the nations players.

I'd love to see him given a crack at the Prem with some decent cash behind him to bring in his pick of players from Europe (after his days are done at Rovers of course), but I just don't think he's cut out for the media feeding frenzy of the Premier League.

So many times you can spot the intelligent players playing in the Prem that SO'D would snap up given the opportunity.

SO'D would be an outstanding England coach, no doubt about it, but there's no way he'd be given the time to do the job his way. Nor would the press like his \"don't suffer fools gladly\" approach and they'd soon be trying to knock him down.

Having thought about the England job, I'd be inclined to stick with Capello on the condition that he dumped the old guard and brought in some new blood.

Could you imagine the FA actually daring to appoint, a Championship manager, with limited experience outside the lower leagues, and no experience of the top flight, let alone Europe, renowned for his quiet manner and dislike of the media. And currently in charge of Donny Rovers... To the job of England manager?

Not very likely is it.

As it is, I don't think they'll sack Capello. Apart from anything else, I don't think they can really afford to.

It happened with Mike Bassett.... ;)

I think there's more danger of SO'D being targeted by the likes of Fulham or Leicester. I too think Capello will stay on. Even though he was shown up tactically, he is probably tough enough to take the big decisions that will be needed in terms of ending one or two England careers.

Perhaps if the FA quit being so 'showbiz' they might actually win another cup

Roy Hodgson as boss
SOD as u21 and Rovers boss and Gradi as under 19s

Lets be honest, Our boss isnt that good but will be one day

We need a England team with workmanship, teamwork and responsibility

Just imagine if SOD became the England manager, he could call Lewis Guy up for the squad ;)
