We went Sarigerme in may which is about an hour from Marmaris and 2o mins from Dalaman airport,Blue laggoons is ment to be a good day out with which they also take you to see loggerhead turtles which are now in their season. Also the mud baths and 13 islands tour where you go for a swim  in the sea when you are close to the islands.Make sure you get bartering thought even if it means leaving the shops because the will drag you back in and you can easily knock half off the price off things and that is the shops aswell as the markets.

I would n`t go back to Marmaris again, be prepared to be pestered non stop from the moment you leave your hotel to the moment you get back!

On the plus side, try the Jeep safari but be prepared to get wet through and black bright. The Day trip over to Rhodes on the catamaran was a decent day out and also the day out to Turtle Beach with a stop off at the mud baths

I think i can stand my own when it comes to people pestering me

Thanks for that lads, i havve heard when you barter you drop down about 60% of what they are asking from you and that way it gives you a 10% bartering difference to get the cost at half price to what they wanted.
The Jeep safari sounds good, also seen they do a Quad bike safari so may give that a blast, as well as the water parks there.

I have heard it may not be to everyones liking in Turkey only time will tell, however it is a lot hotter than here at the minute so thats all im bothered about.   B)

Try to use at least a little punctuation donnievic, your post above is close to unreadable!  :S

I bumped into Simon \"Mufflicker\" yesterday - said it was very very hot!

I suppose you'd expect that in Turkey at this time of year though ;)

Mush had a fantastic time, not one day where it was less than 42degrees, and it gets HOTTER as August gets near, im off again end of August just the missus and me.

A few tips, Don't get much Turkish Lira, you will get a better deal when they see you paying with English Money.
Don't take out any excursions with the touts as they say you are insured when infact should you have any sort of accident you aren't covered, you will pay slightly more through your tour operator but better to be safe than sorry.

Also if you go to Ishmal market, never go with the price they want, they deal in English money and i found if i showed interest in anything i could usually get them down by 60% from their original price.

I had my reservations about Turkey but i found it was a great place to stay and the weathers a different gravy.

As a matter of interest who ya booked with and where you staying, i was at the Cietta Apartments and it was top draw.

Going with Thomas Cook on 26th August. We are staying at Aegean Princess apartments. Its voted 32 out of 318 hotels on trip advisor so am hopeful it will be ok.

Iv been told to barter at the market so looking forward to that.

Cheers for the info.

We went with Thomas Cook and had no problems, when your coming back make sure you either have something to eat before you get to the airport OR take some sarnies otherwise you can look forward to paying 28lira(£13.50) for a Mcdonalds meal at Dalaman Airport

Now that is one country that has never appealed to me. It might have something to do with the greasy, slimy, square headed f**k wits that are known as Turks.

Hello Bob,

I trust that you and young Alex are well!

By the way I think the movie you are remembering is Midnight Express and it sent such a powerful message that I also have no interest in visiting. Anyway, I know you guys put up with crap weather but isn't 42c a bit extreme even for you?

Cheers

Dead right GCV! Sorry. And yes. Alex in particular is doing well. He bloody well clean blowled me tonight (and I'm a good defensive bat) whilst his driving is getting straighter and straighter. Mind you, as he has me bowling at him for at least 2 hours every single sodding night, I'm not too surprised!

How's life with you these days? Good I hope.

Cheers :)

Bob

I'm with you on this Bob. Ever since I saw that film, I've been terrified by the thought of having to suck off Angelina Jolie's dad while Tootsie watches if I ever leave this sceptred isle.

Maybe Pete Davies has the same nightmare.

They're all winding you up Muff.....at least I think so!!
Been 3 times to Turkey and have always found the folk there to be hospitable (more than most Europeans I may add).
Yes the bartering can get on your tits but relax and try to get into the 'cat and mouse' game and you will enjoy it.
As for the Turks trying to 'drag' you into their shops and bars, well that does happen in other Euro countries too. However the Egyptians/Somalis have got to take the prize in that particular annoying game.......be firm, avoid eye contact and watch your valuables!!

I saw Midnight Cowboy at a very young age, and watched that particular scene in disbelief. I found the whole thing very hard to swallow.
Even to this day the thought of it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
I wouldn't like to meet the fockers in real life.
