this will ruffle some feathers the ddr

so whats the take amongst the normall rovers fans about
the ddr?

are they as bad as any government policys or as bad as the yanks?

every club has them through out the leagues and conference
albeit a dying trade these days.the police have done their job well in clearing football up of yob culutre is fair to say.

at a guess i say some rovers normall fans would be more than happy to pass time of day with ddr as other rovers fans understandable would cross to otherside of road.

I have no issue with them as long as they stay out of my way and keep to scrapping with others of that persuasion.

No problem with them.
When I was younger, me and a mate were on way back from a Conference game on the train. There were a few Rotherscum fans on the same train, one of which grabbed my pal by the throat without any kind of provocation. There were a few DDR lads in the next carriage who promptly gave him a bit of a seeing to, not before ripping up his Millers season ticket in front of his face. :)

I've mellowed a lot since my youth, and the DDR simply don't interest me at all.

For me, if people want to fight with like minded people from another club - and as long as nobody gets involved that doesn't want to be - then fine.

I don't believe that many people would ever approve of this kind of activity, it's not exactly PC these days to condone violence of any nature - especially not the sort than can end up spilling out into public areas and therefore affect women and children.

Whilst I'm sure there have been plenty of occasions when innocents have been caught in the crossifre, I have seen and heard examples of the above many times over the years, particulalry in the non-league days.

I'm not the type to get involved in vioence but I don't mind if a few lads want a punch-up with a few other lads somewhere out of harm's way to the general public.

Incidentally, I bought a bacon butty off a Hereford fan today and he mentioned a few DDR lads going in the home end at Edgar Street many years ago dressed as monks. Any ideas what that was all about, Oslo?

I have no problem at all with them.

It's not my scene, but I know a few lads that are or have been involved with them and they're all good lads.

When the club was on its' knees and could barely scrape four figure gates, many of the key DDR lads were amongst the few that kept going home and away. They have a bad reputation with some, but the ones I know are huge football fans as well as all the other stuff.

Before anyone sets out to criticise their attachment to the club, they should stop and think who was really around when times were bad (and by bad I don't mean losing to Newcastle).

Would anyone like to explain what the purpose of the DDR is?

If it's to support Donny, then great.

If it's to have fights in public places infront of families, kids, adults or general public, then why are we approving them?

If they are both, then see the second scenario

Aye. Apparently Myra Hindley were reight nice to her goldfish an all, so maybe she weren't that bad.

I knew normal service would be resumed shortly.

Good point.

It was her dog she loved, and generally took it everywhere with her, especially to the burials of the kids on the moor.......... but I'm sure all the canine lovers will be saying, eeeeh she's a bloody cracking lass Myra wi dogs, I'd like her even more if she stopped killing all them bloody kids

mike-f that hereford game was a few good years ago, infact it was a league game
and i seem to recall the ddr went in a couple of mini buses.

there was 4 ddr4 lads who were dressed up as monks later to be known as 'mad monks' and that tag came from the hereford police.

as said the donny monks went into the seats where the hereford lads were
known to be seated, that stand to left of away fans terrace.the monks just walked
upto hereford lads and started throwing punches.

when rovers were at hereford when john ryan played a hereford copper pulled
us to one side and asked if i recall the 'mad monks' the copper was having a good laugh about it as the 'mad monks' told him it was a bad habbit that they got
into.
