Bullshit, or could there be some truth and meaning to it all?

It's the end of the world, it's clearly predicted on this ancient Mayan artifact I unearthed in my garden while digging a pond.

It's the best before date on my Pot Noodle. Chances are I'll eat it before then so everyone can relax.

Does this date take in to account the change from the Julian Calender to the Gregorian Calender in September 1752 and the loss of 11 days of the month (3rd-13th). If not should the real date be 11 days earlier on the 10 Dec 2012?

As the Mayans worked on a different calendar, why do you suppose they the date fits so perfectly into our own? Now THAT would be worth a round of applause, but if the world ended I don't think I'd be able to.

A much simpler explanation is that the guy who has control of all the worlds nukes doesn't get invited to any parties on the evening in question and goes mental. It'd certainly be one last laugh for the nerds.

It'd be a bit of a relief if this was true. At least we wouldn't have to listen to any more superstitious shite like this anyroad.

When I were a bairn, there were grown up people shitting themselves about how Old Mother Shipton had said \"The world unto an end will come, in nineteen hundred and eighty one\". Brill eh? Some deranged old crone living in a cave in Harrogate whitters summat in her sleep and Khalid Aziz ends up running investigative journalism stories about it on Look North 300 years later.

Wouldn't there be seven signs of the apocalypse before the end of the world?

One down, six to go.

Oh aye. Gavin & Stacey. Another one of them post-modern ironic cultural symbols.

Matthew Horne & James Corden. Another one of them pair of t**ts that regularly spring up in the comdey (sic) firmament for their 15 minutes of well milked fame, whilst being demonstrably lacking in anything remotely resembling talent or wit.

When I was a bairn, we had Little & Large and Cannon & Ball. Every generation has 'em.

Don't forget Les and Dustins laugh in..........eeeh in the land and time of 'seaside double act' vaudeville entertainment. Then the seasides died and suddenly:

Repeatedly saying 'Rock on Tommy' and pulling your braces out, stopped being funny after 946 times.

Hearing the 850th Mavis Riley impression 'oooooooh Riiiiita' ceased.

Hearing the 587th Benny Hawkins impression 'Errrrrrm Miss Diane' ceased.

Hearing the 689th 'oooooh Betty', or 'aaaaaaaaaaaaarrh, aaaaarh it's an up and under'.

Cannon/Ball, Mike and Bernie Winters, Les/Dustin, Little and Large, Mike Yarwood, Russ 'see you jimmy' Abbott, Max ' I wanna tell you a story' Bygraves et al all couldn't adapt once the seaside towns perished.

I just remember being a wee shite and having to sit through all this early Saturday night prime time entertainment. My parents in fits of laughter and myself, very confused.

Subsequently, I've seen re-runs, read a bit, tributes etc etc....

I do a bit of reading sweet cheeks, and I don't know about you, but I do most of my reading whilst having a poo, probably might explain why I'm curently banned from WH Smiths and Waterstones.

That'll save you a whole world of pain. SIX long years of eating the same dusty old kebab when there is soooooo much sweet peaches to be picked off and squeezed for ripeness.
