1-1 now. Still a decent result if it stays like that, because Yeovil are arguably promotion contenders now as well.

You say that, but Yeovil coming into play off contention now. Would prefer a draw myself.

Loving the spirit of Orient keeping Swindon out. 700 Swindon in a 3.5 k crowd, and we worry about our attendances.

We don't have to bother with any opposition scores. Really doesn't matter.

Good result, also Blackman being sold to Reaeding from the Blades, reducing their strike power.  Things going our way without us playing.

It's really wound me up how clubs have gone after Matt Ritchie and Nick Blackman, instead of Cotterill! Obviously i wouldn't want him to go, but he's been L1 best player ffs! We should atleast be receiving bids for him.

Excellent results!
MK Dons were still dangerous but I reckon that puts them out of the running for the top 2.

86 points is a sensible target for us. 9 wins 3 draws and 6 defeats SHOULD easily be within our grasps. MK would need to double their points tally from 19 matches to catch that. Yeovil need 41 points from 18 games. They are not going to do that.

And Swindon need 36 points from 18 games which is a big task.

Looking ok at the minute. I'd say it's narrowing down to us, Tranmere, Brentford as the front runners, Swindon, Bournemouth and Blades still there but needing top-of-the-table form from here on in to make top 2.

Anyone else would need a near-miraculous run-in to make it.

Ours to lose. Even if we have a distinctly below-par end to the season, we' take some catching.

Don't disagree Billy but why do you think Brentford are in the front runners while Swindon, currently with the same points total, the same number of games played and a noticeably better GD, are not? Just curious.

Just each game as it comes. I think we've got the mentality to treat every game as a cup final.

I remember seeing an interview a number of years ago with Frank lampard, think it was the first time Chelsea won the league under Jose. He said that the key factor in the second half of the season was seeing their opponents become more and more   demoralised as they kept winning and grinding out results week after week, with the gap growing just that little bit more each week.

Basically, our destiny is firmly in our hands now, if we keep the pressure on and keep grinding away our contenders will wilt!

I did put this on a thread the other week. Of the current top 11, going down to Crawley, Swindon still have to play 7 of them away from home. They have yet to beat anyone in the top 10 away. Their goal difference has come from spanking poor teams at home, their away form is patchy to say the least. They will be there or there abouts but they have more right to be worried about us than we do of them.

We've got a lot of away games still to play too. 10 I think with 8 at home. A lot of those away games are against the better sides too. Still, that ought to be in our favour then :)

The Blades and Orient games .....

Dunno Bob. I was typing that on the shitter in a crap hotel in Liverpool after a 14 hour day at work. Do you expect perfection?

(I'd forgotten Brentford had slipped up these last couple of weeks...)

We've also won the most games in the whole league, apart from Manchester Utd and Cardiff...

We're 2nd in the division with a game in hand over Tranmere, 6 points ahead of 3rd, and we've not performed to our full potential yet. Pretty strong position methinks...

Yes, we have got some tough away games, but also a fair few home games against the top sides as well. Tranmere, Swindon and mk franchise to name but a few. That could be in our favour if we play like we did against orient and sheff utd.

Yeovil also...

Bob
We have only 4 of the current top 12 to play away from home. Of the 7 we have played, we have won 4 drawn two and lost to Yeovil. We always loose to bloody Yeovil. Swindon have by far a harder run in than we do.

Big thing is that, now the games remaining are levelling out, we've bought ourselves a nice bit of room for error. If we can pick up 13-14 points from the next 7 games (and that looks eminently doable) then we'll have even more in the bag to see us through a tough run-in. Get 14 from the next 7 (beat Bury, Hartlepool, Walsall, MK, draw a couple and lose one) and we're within touching distance. I really can't see two other sides topping 86-87 points, so we'd be left needing maybe 16-17 points from the final 11 games.

Time to turn the screw over the next 5 weeks.

I don't think we can rule anyone in or out just yet, look at Reading last season, they turned their form around and went on to win the league. We just need to continue what we are doing and we are up there.

Just feel that DiCanio spring coil tighter and tighter as the weeks pass - he and the club will unravel by the end of this, they may make the playoffs if lucky.

Are you psycic BRR

Paolo Di Canio is facing an increasingly uncertain future at Swindon, amid claims the financially stricken League One club will go into administration in the next 24 hours.

A desperate search for new investment to help offset debts of around £13m appears to have failed and left club bosses fearing they may have little alternative but to call in the administrators.

As a consequence, Swindon’s entire first-team squad would be put up for sale, in a move that would leave Di Canio agonising over his next move.
