He can't do a job in the SPL and yet he could do a job in the Championship. That is somewhat contradictory given the recent posts on Paul Heffernan's success.  The bloke is also a tool of the highest order. Not for me.

The money would be better spent getting lalkovic in for the season, changed the game when he came on sat and those 3 balls he put in the box Parkin would av thrived off them if he'd still been on

Surprising hardly anyone wants him here. Especially when people on the forum were Getting moist at the thought of signing Lee Hughes not long back.

Would be a quality signing and would do a job in this league.

Agreed! even though he`s a prize t**t!

some of our current players are n`t exactly squeaky clean, I mean we have a porno star and we have some one who blinded a fellow player ending his football career, we had another porno star on loan, one of our strikers got arrested the other year

IF we have that kind of money it's a shame we couldn't complete the deal for Joe Murphy who would have probably been a more useful addition all things considered.

The trouble is we all wanted Murphy but..................and we will probably never know. Did the Manager?

Yes he did.
He said at the supporters club meeting he was top of
His list but the club told him he wanted stupid money

And you don't think Diouf will want stupid money?

Maybe \"stupid money\" is now available. Pity it wasn't a bit earlier as we might not be in the mess we are now.

Is it me just being suspicious as to why the twitter feed on the index page inexplicably goes walkabout when there's an impending announcement on the horizon. :chair:

Add Marlon King to the list, its about getting results on the pitch and Diouf would definately help out. People clearly know very little about him as well, he hasn't had a spell upfront for about 5 seasons so to look at his goal record doesn't reflect his ability at all, I watched a few Rangers games at the back end of last season and they actually used him prodominatly on the left, although he is far more suited to the right, he played very well in the games I watched.

Played more as a winger at Rangers than an out and out striker, so IF he does arrive probably be looking at a front 3 of

Copps Sharp Diouf

Can't say I'm very happy about this. He's a gobshite of the highest order and his football ability so many times has been tainted by his antics. Ask yourself why he's moved on so many times.

Is this a cynical move to get numbers through the turnstiles?

I made sacrifices to donate the the striker fund and if we're going to use money in this way, I'm beginning to wish I'd kept my money in my pocket.

Barry,

I think it's safe to say our donations helped secure Lalkovic, I'm more than happy with that!

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a front three of Lalkovic Sharp/Parkin and Diouf.

Please no.

His attitude stinks, will probably be expensive wages wise and may be disruptive to team morale.  His goal record yang all that great.  If we are splashing money on an attacking player I'd rather it be to keep the chelsea youngster for longer.

You are joking surely? Who would come to watch Rovers just because El Hadji Diouf is playing? More likley to cut numbers than increase them.

Couldn't care less about his past behaviour, I'm more bothered about what he does on the pitch and on that basis I'm not overly enthusiastic.

It's exciting because he's a name but it's a long time since he was playing for the likes of Liverpool. I just hope, if he does come in, it's a signing that the manager wants and not a (hardly cheap) publicity stunt from the board. Saunders said in the paper tonight he wants to assess the squad, which makes sense, and he hasn't yet had the time to do that. We have Coppinger, Lalkovic, Bennett and Mason all competing for the kind of role Diouf would play. In goal we have a 40+ year old whose long term form is a worry, and a 20 year old whose long term prospects are still unknown. If money is scarce I feel there are better ways of using it. If money is no object then.....

Would he even be able to play for Wigan this side of new year if he signed now? Thought Prem teams had to register players eligible to play by 31st August. If not they can only be registered as of 1st Jan? Unless of course they are 21 or under on 31st August. Id imagine thats why we are favourites if this is still the format.

If Wigan have not named 25 players then they can name him in their squad.

To be honest, weve been too nice for a while.

Its about time we did what we need to do to develop as a club.

If it means employing players that are a tad challenging then so be it. Thats life.

Couldn't agree more with Jonathon there, i'd be much more enthused with a quality keeper coming in or a centre half.

We've plenty of creative options and i'm not overly happy about the effect having an undoubted tosser like him around the rest of the squad.

Take that as a no thanks from me, nice to see that we've discovered some backing though, shame we couldn't find it in the summer.

Agreed, maybe we will become a bit more Viking in spirit! Launch the longboats, gird your loins, we could be off for a bit of rape and pillage, and if that doesn't get Nudga and Cussy on board nothing will!

Exactly right, we have been a soft touch for a while, which is why I think Diouf would be a great signing.  Give nasty bas**rds like Lewis Dunk something to think about - better not kick Sharp up in the air or El-Haj will tear me a new arsehole.  Or summat.
