Stat Attack v Exeter
W22 / D5 / L18
Rovers have lost 5 out of the previous 6 matches v Exeter. The last league match between the two teams was a 5-1 drumming at St James Park in the infamous 97/98 season. The last win in the tie for Rovers was a 2-0 way back in December 1995 (before Riccardo Calder and Mitchell Lund were born!)
Luckily (or not?) for Rovers, Exeter haven't won at home since April. They have only earned 1 point at home and won 5 so far this season, currently sitting 19th in L2, just 1 point above relegation.
:scarf:

I remember we played Exeter at home a couple of times in the early 80s, both times on Friday evenings - I think because of he Leger. One year we won 3-0 and then 6-1.. either will do tomorrow!
I think, and I stand to be corrected, that the 3-0 was in 1981 and Hugh Dowd scored a headed goal from outside the penalty area at the Rosso end?
-
Added interest is that we signed captain Copps from them of course.
-
Be nice if they give him a good reception.

Years ago when it first came out we were interested in Copps Dagenham played Exeter I made a point of going to see what it was all about as I was still in Dagenham, it was obvious the class! the dressing rooms were sort of behind the family stand and you could see and were close to the away team as they trooped into the dressing rooms I shouted at Copps basically saying get yer arse to Doncaster I got a wry smile and a discreet thumbs up
-
in case anyone doesn't know
there's an under the radar match going on at the moment
score NEWPORT 1 CARLISLE 0
so by my reckoning Carlisle need 2 to win !!
goal after 2 minutes
25 now gone
and they've got just the right manager to do "any trick in the book" to get a result
one of their players was so hungry to win he got a 6 match ban for doing a suarez!!
point is less pressure on rovers today if Carlisle don't win
-
2-0
-
If Carlisle don't score, we will then be the only side in the division still to have scored in every league fixture this season..
-
Finished 2-0..

-
Morning??? Good afternoon Les.
-
Exeter slightly on top but neither keeper tested yet
-
Plymouth and Notts C both 1-0 down.
-
One shot for rovers on target.
-
at least Plymouth are losing - together before today Carlisle and Plymouth had together not lost in 28 games
let's hope lightening strikes twice at crewe
-
let's hope lightening strikes twice at crewe
It already has. This season and last. :chair:
-
Crewe just missed a penalty.........now Plymouth have equalised.
-
I can see why Exeter haven't won at home for so long which shows how poor we are at present
-
BBC says we have 61% possession and 6 efforts on goal - are we playing badly?
-
Will somebody put their foot through the ball and bang it in to the net.
Sounds like Chuckle Brothers. To you, to me. No you. No after you sir.
-
Sky correspondent says the game hasn't had much quality but Copps had a good shot saved.
-
BBC says we have 61% possession and 6 efforts on goal - are we playing badly?
Radio Sheff commentators saying we are by far the better side but playing a long ball game today rather than our usual neat passing game.
Must be Fergies plan today for some reason or other.
-
it's just dawned on me rovers are the only team playing today in the region so they had no choice than cover the match bet they never had any intention until sky intervened moving the chessie match
look forward to the phone in tonite
-
They often do the Blunts or Owls on FM and either one of us, Dingles or Rothrum on Digital, usually the one who is playing furthest away.
Baudrey on in place of Butler.
332 Rovers fans there.
-
Why is butler off? Going 352?
-
Pen to exeter.
-
1-0 down.
-
You would not believe it
-

Looks like we have to prepare ourselves for a long cold winter..
-
Come on Donny don't gift Exeter a rare win ! ₩
-
Down to fourth place as it stands.
-
I'm not sure how Radio Sheff thought we were the best side we aren't. Seriously need a striker

Fergie reckons AW will be back in 2-3 weeks.
-
You would not believe it
Why?
-
Alcock now enters the fray.
-
Right we've not played that well, but at least we've not conceded. Tell you what, let's disrupt the back four!
Oops. How did that happen!
-
Maybe Butler was having a reaction to last week's injury?
-
We look clueless
-
Down to fourth place as it stands.
my prediction about rovers never being out the top three is on shaky ground AT THE MOMENT
YEOVIL IN THE PLAY OFFS POSITION ffs

Commentators now saying that since half time we are ragged and not playing with any quality.
Exter, since they scored, have grown in confidence (as you would expect i guess).

Watching the game are you Bob?
Thought not. Weve been shocking
-
And we continue the average of 2 goals a game!
-
We should be able to hold on and win this game, a third would be good to settle the game.
-
OK. I guess we do need to strengthen then.

Still winning though, eh? With Williams and McSheffery to return..

Now only a point behind Carlisle.

Apologies. Seems Butler off with injury. Give DF credit for shuffling things around. Massive applause for Mandeville giving the team a lift and an instant impact.
See it out boys!

Ohhh my aching sides.
-
I had to go out just before we scored.
I was listening on the car radio and pulled into Sainsburys for diesel when we went in front.
Peoples were staring at me as I gave out a big "yyyeeeesssss".
A good win especially as we didn't play too well until we went behind.
Still , don't good teams always find a way to win?
Credit to Mandy who seems to be growing in stature now.
He will probably start next week.

Man of the match poll now up: http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=260077.0
