I've had my criticisms of the way in which Labour has managed this issue for the past couple of years. But those have been political and procedural mistakes. There's never been any suggestion that Corbyn is an anti-Semite.
Yet the idea has taken root, egged on by the very rags that have poured racist bile into people's front rooms for generations.
Those of you who think Corbyn is a Jew hater, just spend a couple of minutes watching this. Then ask yourselves if you're being played.

I'm not expecting any of those that use antisemitism against Corbynto 'a' listen to this and or 'b' to admit they're wrong but it does show those that pedal the lies are bound up in their own prejudices.

Thanks for the link BST, I've passed it on to a friend of mine who is doing some research into the subject. He's sought examples from the Chief Rabbi but had no response to date from him despite repeated requests.

Indeed. But you can certainly expect those same people to continue to peddle those self same lies; after all, they're in the Daily Mail so they must be right!

Someone said today that if Corbyn genuinely IS anti-Semitic, he must have been playing a really sophisticated game as a sleeper agent, because there's no evidence whatsoever that he ever did or said anything anti-Semitic for the first 65 years of his life. Until he became Labour leader.

I think much of this debate ultimately boils down to a semantic argument over your definition of anti-semitism. An issue which the Labour party itself has struggled to reach a consensus on.
Does anyone really believe that Corbyn harbours racist or anti-semitic views against any particular individual? I genuinely don't believe that he does nor do I believe that he would ever actively discriminate against anyone on those grounds. It's a gross generalisation but my thoughts on Corbyn are that he's probably a fundamentally decent man with well meaning idealistic intentions. I personally think his world view is misguided and i feel he's possibly manipulated by more ruthless members of his own party. But I'm sure hes a decent enough man albeit not everyone's cup of tea. A bit of a basket case but harmless enough. An eccentric old Uncle.
However, if you were to agree that expressing "anti-Israel" sentiment falls within the definition of anti-semitism, then on that basis I think it highly likely that Corbyn would by that definition be deemed an anti semite. He is supportive of the Palestinian cause which by definition opposes the creation of the state of Israel. Does anyone really believe that Corbyn doesnt oppose the existence of the state of Israel? If you believe that then it boils down to whether or not you would class that as anti semitic or not.

To be fair Billy I've only just seen this and I have commented before that I believe anti-Semitism has been used as a political football against the Labour Party and Corbyn and whilst it does exist in the Labour party the problem isn't as bad as believed..

I've also commented on it. More lies from Labour supporters!

Wing Co. You have done. Agreed.

Right. That post of WC's at 08:31 must have been an optical illusion

What do you mean? WC's post at 08:31 was his first post, as was mine at 8:36.

Corbyn is the best thing that has happened to the Conservative party, my work colleagues who would be Labour supporters in the past are either not voting or voting for any one but Labour

Wrong BST. I posted on here that Corbyn isn't a racist, just a ditherer, and you agreed with me.

Tory ministers back candidates accused of Islamophobia,
yet again contradicting the PM’s claim that the Conservative Party has ‘zero tolerance’
on issue.

He didn't apologise for the very tiny minority of idiots in the party did he?.and in his fluffy 'Snowflake' way his silence speaks volumes doesn't it? Nero fiddled whilst Rome burned, Corby dithered while the Labour Party collapsed. He is the leader of the Party now his opinion and views matter!

Is "anti-Israel" the same as "anti-Semite"? Strange that nobody has answered that yet. Particularly the original poster.
-
No of course it isn't. One of the major problems I have with the term anti-Semitism is that it is frequently weaponised against anyone who criticises Israeli Govt policy, especially in relation to the Palestinians.
Regarding Israel's right to exist as a state, yes of course it has a right to exist. But there's a lot to discuss round that. That's for another day.

4 more example of anti-semitism from prominent Tories this morning - again where is the outrage? If this was muppets on Twitter saying they supported Labour it would be all over the media and there would be dozens of posts on here.
If people combatting anti-semitism in the Labour Party are not combatting anti-semitism in the Tory Party they are not combating anti-semitism. They are combatting the Labour Party.

I look forward to the media going on and on for the next 2 years about the non-existence of a deep problem running through the party.
The Board of Deputies will be keen to apologise for a storm in a teacup, no doubt.
