Title: Biggest Publicly Stunt since
Post by: Upton Rover on April 07, 2023, 07:48:00 am
Louis Tomlinson and JR were going to buy the club. Yesterday’s statement was a great PR stunt by the club to improve communications to the Club membership in the form of season tickets utilizing various media. Increase the visibility of the Club to the community through news releases,What we are all missing was that also in the statement was the words following a board meeting earlier in the week. Yes it was good for Terry Bramall to say that he and he alone will provide a major cash injection of funds into the playing budget, So we have all missed the fact that no one else around that table at the board meeting we’re not interested in them contributing extra funds to the playing budget. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall, or better still let the board publish the minutes of last weeks meeting.
They obviously either read the posts on here or are kept up to date with the posts on here.
It’s a publicity stunt that seems to have worked on quite a few fans on here, Just a few days ago there were 167 people who voted for the sacking of DS, how many have changed their minds now? We get one statement from 1 man, not the club, and all is rosey.
It’s really good for Terry to say and do what He’s said he will do, however the timing is wrong and it says that the board is divided on such cash injections, and proves that some on the board don’t care, let’s go into next season with a new Manager/1st team coach so that the funds can be used in the correct way, let’s not be fooled that DS can bring in the players to get us back into L1 because he can’t

No not really!
Our owner has come out gave a lengthy statement and it concluded by him pledging us significant funds for next season, but folk like you who don’t like the board are now thinking oh shit what can we moan about now.
So you try and turn it into something you can still moan about
It’s absolutely ridiculous

I have nothing against the board (other than Blunt) but am still sceptical. That is an option too Dickos

There’s no way TB would come out himself and say this if it wasn’t true. If it was blunt or Baldwin then I’d agree it’s propaganda but him stating it himself makes it factual for me

So all is well with you, I’m stating that this 1st team coach is a disaster to our club, if you think otherwise that’s up to you, I won’t be abusive to you and say that you have a right to your views just like I do, but it won’t end like it should if we stay with this man in charge, simple, many can see that many co. What gets me on this site is people who post negative posts are jumped on and ridiculed and called many unpleasant names by people like you who just sit there and look for people to slag off who post negative posts, I will give £50 to charity and say if we stick with this first team coach next season we won’t get out of this league with him at the elm, you match it if you think otherwise

A PR publicity stunt is getting a mob to try and get into the boardroom when there's nobody there in front of whatever invited media bother to show up, not issuing a written statement on a website with absolutely no fanfare whatsoever.

Do they think if they say things often enough it will brainwash people into agreeing with their ridiculous opinions

No I believe it , I’m saying it’s a way of calming things down, a way of getting fans back on board, a way of sweeping the dust under the carpet, a way of let’s forget the past 2 seasons, this cash injection will solve everything.

Same as them that get brainwashed by a statement from the board, not taking into account the suffering we have had to endure the past two seasons, we have seen 19 losses this season and counting, and yet there’s people who are easily pleased by yesterday’s announcement, yes it’s good news for the club, the bad news’s is to let this coach have it, and why announce this now? We see how the last 7 games go, or we should. My guess is if we lose all 7 there will be no change with DS, so fans have a right to be disappointed

I’m not saying it isn’t true.
But my gut tells me this is cash to make up the shortfall in season ticket sales then a bit more on top of that.
I suspect it will be play off budget which is fine but probably not worth the big announcement.
I can’t see it being too 3 with the teams coming up and Bradford if they are still here.

Have your doubts on TB's statement fine but, in my opinion just take it as good news until you have proof that it isnt. We have a whole summer to make up our own minds on the calibre of player we bring in. Until then just enjoy the comical performances we are going to dish out knowing that some of them are going to be out on their ar$e next month.

I agree, that wouldn’t warrant an announcement. The way he’s worded it I can only think we’re going to show a real intent next season.
I don’t expect us to Match the likes of Wrexham or Bradford but we should be leading the pack below them when it comes to budgets

Agree with this, I will judge on the signing and decision making. Dishing out contact extensions to Anderson and offering contracts to the likes of Mitchell has to stop.

It will all come out in the wash anyway when the leagues budgets are revealed and we truly know where ours sits.

Very grateful for TB money but I think the announcement is a reaction to protests and season ticket sales. In normal circumstances I don’t think that would have appeared on the official website.

Whatever way you look at the contract extensions there’s no way you can conclude that’s the cheap option, Anderson will be on very good money for this level, and there will have been plenty of cheaper options.

I’m looking at it as more a bad decision than viewing it as a cheap option to be fair. But that’s just football opinions not a financial judgement.

A cash injection plus DS gone would have been the right decision.

TB is obviously a very trusting man with his millions, unfortunately he is trusting the wrong people.

DS needs to go and quick.
He is terrible, but to have the ability to waste our save the club investment... its a ridiculous decision.

It comes back to the whole point many ha e been making. Terry and others have always put their money in and they can't be faulted with that, but the decisions on what to do with it are constantly terrible.

We are just going to end up in the same place.

It's a constant cycle, they obviously just don't see it.

Put the money in and make the right decision, get rid of DS and bring some experience in and let's have a right good go next season as a club, board, staff, players and fans.

The sayings damned if yo do, damned if you don't & the proof is in the pudding are appropriate for the reaction to yesterday's statement.
Upton you do come across as having an inherent grudge against the board that no matter what they do you will still find fault! Let's just settle down and see what arises in the next couple of months.
I feel that DS and even maybe JC are on notice from TB and DS may well be gone at the end of the season.

First of all your posts certainly come across like you have a grudge against the board and second do you not think TB has seen the rapid demise in the last 4-5 months that we have all witnessed and thought "I need to do something about this". I firmly believe his comments about DS were more a case of putting him on notice to show an improvement (which I am confident he will not be able to do) or he's out the door.

I think the majority of fans will welcome TB statement however I believe the majority of fans who want rid of DS will still want rid of him.
I don’t have a grudge against the board, I do have a grudge how the club is been run at the present moment, and it’s only fans unrest that caused TB to act and that alone, if we all agreed that the past 2 seasons have been wonderful then nothing would be done, it’s hard to see not only your team lose week in week out, it’s in the manner it’s happening with shocking formations and team selections backed by lacklustre performances from a team that either doesn’t want to be bothered or like most fans don’t agree that DS is up to the role.

In that case thanks Upton for making him see sense

Read the post, there again calling fellow fans , no matter what, you will pull up negative posts and think you know everything about how a football club should be run and how a coach is good when clearly he’s not, so who’s deluded ? Not me Mr right

There is one saving grace in football, and that is win four games on the trot and the same people wanting people sacked will be willing to kiss their backside, it's just the way it is and has been, the noisiest are nearly always the ones easiest turned when things go right, because it's what they feed off.

Yes, of course TB was completely oblivious to the situation until people like you told him all about it! :silly:

No not really!
Our owner has come out gave a lengthy statement and it concluded by him pledging us significant funds for next season, but folk like you who don’t like the board are now thinking oh shit what can we moan about now.
So you try and turn it into something you can still moan about
It’s absolutely ridiculous

I think people are sceptical given the previous hyperbolic statements the board of made; let’s see what next season brings.

It always amazes me that the same few posters all decide to post the same thing over and over again on different threads.
Do they think if they say things often enough it will brainwash people into agreeing with their ridiculous opinions
Deluded

Oh the irony…

We have 1 coming out pledging cash, that’s good news, and another coming out saying we are keeping DS for next season, 2 good reasons to look forward too

We really need an 'ignore' option on here........ some people are just relentlessly monotonous, repetitive and tiresome...

I've been on holiday so not sure what I've missed that has encouraged the more positive comments on these threads. Extra investment would be great, and if there's more than just spin and PR to the statement then great. BUT, that money is still being spent by the most incompetent manager we've had, who'll be sticking to the awful unwatchable 5-5-0, and therefore just a waste of investment. He's dreadful and needs to go. The only investment we needed was a few more quid for a increase in manager salary to get someone decent in. Same rubbish again today - were we slightly less atrocious than in previous games - probably, was it good enough - no, it was dull, uninspiring, turgid, unwatchable football. Investment or not, the fact that our head of football and Directors / owners can't see that destroys their credibility. I don't want to sack the board, or get rid of directors or investors - but this decision - to keep this atrocious embarrassment of a manager who is sucking the soul out of the this team - is indefensible.
